Musical archeology… part 1…

So, I found some old cassette tapes, and I am recording them onto my laptop. The sound quality is bad, because I recorded these on tape way back in the day.

This first one is me and my friend Brian. We are just noodling around, me on the guitar and him on the harmonica. I am singing, but not real words. Oh, and I added the silly video, just to have something to look at while you listen. That is me and Brian, back when were very young, and more than a little crazy.

So, yeah, the Na Na song.

More of what you are missing if you aren’t listening to my Pouring My Art Out podcast…

I did a live show. It got out of hand.

Yup, music.

I talked about mood alteration… and it isn’t what you think it is… mostly.

I discussed a famous vagina… for perfectly explainable reasons.

I read some parts of my action/adventure novel, The Princess Rebellion.

And then I read some more parts.

And most recently, I just did a bunch of random silly stuff, and made fun of Texas.

No, we can’t make you wear a mask or get a vaccine shot. Here are some other things we can’t make you do…

Take showers or baths.

Wipe your butt after you poop.

Open your eyes while driving on the freeway.

Not stick your head into a hornet nest.

Not set your house on fire.

Put on a parachute before jumping out of an airplane.

Not drink bleach or shoot horse de-wormer up your rear end.

Think.

Have empathy.

Have common courtesy.

Be a good person.

Do real research on vaccines, not just find internet groups that support your bias.

Pay attention to the vast majority of scientists and medical experts.

An open letter to those who think the insurrectionists are being given a raw deal, and should be sent home with all charges dropped, or claim that the riot was just an enthusiastic ‘tour group’…

Dear hypocritical democracy-destroying pinheads,

First of all, you know damn well that if these were democrats, doing this in support of Biden, while tRump was in office, you would be calling for the death penalty.

If you were at work, and these people showed up, assaulted your security guards, broke into your office, stole your desk, crapped on the floor, and terrorized the employees, while you hid in a closet or ran screaming from the back door, you would want them prosecuted.

No, I will go farther than that. If these were Black Lives Matter supporters, you would show up there with guns and at least think about taking the law into your own hands.

There has been a lot going on in my life lately… the final chapter… let’s review…

I met some cute dogs.

My kid graduated college, and is, as we speak, moving in with her boyfriend in New Mexico, to attend nursing school.

She has style.

I confused her by taking pictures while she was posing for pictures for our other daughter, who graduated from the same college.

I saw a sky full of weird, wrinkley clouds.

I like clouds.

Especially weird ones.

I also like sunsets.

I saw a tree with some crazy roots.

My daughters are insanely smart.

There has been a lot going on in my life lately… part 5… beaches and flowers and stuff…

So yeah, my 97-year-old mom came down to San Diego after our daughter’s graduation. She stayed at the Catamaran Hotel, which is where I took a lot of the flower and fish and bird pictures in this series of posts.

Her room had a pretty nice view of the Pacific Ocean and Mission Bay.

But the landscaping is what I love about that place.

It has a waterfall in the lobby.

It is all very lush and tropical.

The gardens are amazing.

Not too shabby.

You know, if you like that sort of thing.

We took a long walk along the beach.

I saw this car.

Which really looks like it belongs in the Bay Area.

Okay, I should be wrapping all this up in another two posts.

There has been a lot going on in my life lately… part 4… a really old building… by American standards…

I know that by European standards, this is not a really old building.

But it was before America became a country.

So, this is a part of all the craziness surrounding our youngest daughter’s graduation from college. Most of the family went to Oregon to stay in a cabin in the woods for a week. I stayed home to work and take care of the dogs.

But my mom… who is almost 98, remember, came on down to San Diego after the graduation, to see some of her childhood memory locations.

And the Mission was on the list.

So me and my three brothers escorted her around town.

And you get to look at pictures. Whoo!!!

All these flowers are growing around the Mission. I doubt most of them have been there since the 1700’s.

My mom and two of my brothers, enjoying the peace and coolness of the old chapel.

Some very… pretty… old adobe bricks.

History and flowers, You’re welcome.
