The party… the final chapter… in which I meet a flying dog and was accidentally a racist…

a-1

That’s me. I’m drunk. I am also waiting for a slice of pizza. It’s late at night, and the night still isn’t over.

a-2

That’s Big Johnny, the person who was responsible for me being there… both at that pizza place specifically, and in the Bay Area in general.

a-3

Assuming that you have been following along with the other posts in this series, you know that there was a big party celebrating John’s birthday, down in Oakland, at a warehouse that makes beer. After everyone else went home, Johnny, and that guy on the right, a friend of John’s whom I had just met, decided to Uber to a bar in nearby Alameda. It was my very first Uber ride ever. I am not sure if I am supposed to use the name of my new friend, but I loved that guy!

a-5

yeah… more beer… like I hadn’t already had enough.

a-6

Also, we showed up smack-dab in the middle of ‘zombie crawl’, where a bunch of people dressed as the undead were going from bar to bar.

a-8

I can’t read that sign, and I can’t remember what the bar was called, but we had fun.

a-9

We had a lot of fun. In fact, we had so much fun that there were two photos that Johnny asked me not to put here. He doesn’t look like he is having fun, but that is a look of momentary shame. HA!

a-10

You thought I was kidding about the flying dog, but that dog clearly has wings, and I met him… so…

a-11

The night drew to a close, as nights will.

a-12

We reminisced about the good times, getting older, life in general, and drinking too much, specifically.

a-13

After some pizza slices, a fiasco at a a German bar, and another Uber ride, Big Johnny and I were on BART… that’s: Bay Area Rapid Transit… and on our way home… and this is where I was accidentally a racist…

a-14

After Johnny got off the train to transfer to the San Francisco line, this group of young African American guys got on the train. There was something about the way they moved… like cats, or like a trained combat unit… and scoped out the car like they were sizing us all up… that made me take notice. And then they pulled out a boombox and put on a dance show that blew our minds. I mean, they all seemed to be double-jointed, and they did stuff that I can’t explain. I wish I got the camera back out faster.

Hey, I am not proud of my momentary nervousness, but I am honest about it.

Because… doggies!!!

b-4

There is a reason that, when I visit my mom in the Bay Area, I always drive down to Point Isabel.

b-1

Actually there are  lots of reasons. Great views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate… and dogs…

b-2

Lots of dogs…

b-3

Oodles and hordes and scads of dogs.

b-5

If I am away from Shiloh, our dog, I like to meet other dogs… and pet them. Shiloh doesn’t mind. I didn’t break any records like I did that time I set the world record for most dogs petted in one day… search the post… but I met a lot of nice dogs.

b-6

I didn’t take pictures of the dogs while I was petting them like I normally do, because I had the zoom lens on the camera, and that doesn’t work well for closeups. It does work well for pictures like that one up there…

b-7

And that one, that I took later from my mom’s house.

I know, I said no more political posts, but this is breaking news…

photofunia-1476817956

This just into the newsroom!

Satan has released the following statement;

Thank you, dear Trump supporters. I, of course, endorsed little Donny years before he ever decided to run for public office, but I am moved by your loyalty, your steadfast refusal to be swayed from your blind faith in this man, even in the face of his own words and actions.

On a more personal note, keep up the good work. I mean, I have been trying to spread hatred and bigotry and, well, evil, on the face of the earth for quite some time, but until now, it wasn’t always easy. In fact, lately, it almost seemed like the good guys were pulling ahead. But you guys, oh wow, you are turning this freekin’ planet into a cesspool of corrupted, vile nastiness that I would be proud to call home.

So keep it up, my thoughtless little minions, and I look forward to seeing each and every one of you sometime in the future.

Is it any wonder that I miss this city when I am away?

Oh, deer…

b-1

I have never seen so many deer in my life as I have recently.

b-2

I took all these pictures during the first two days at my mom’s house in the Bay Area.

b-5

They were all taken right in front of her house.

b-6

The people around here don’t like them.

b-7

That is because they tend to eat all their plants and flowers.

b-8

But you have to admit, they are beautiful animals.

b-9

And it makes me feel good to know that some animals are thriving.

b-10

I mean, they must be doing okay if there are this many running around in a neighborhood instead of up in the hills, away from the houses.

b-11

Makes me wonder if the wild parts of the Bay Area are so covered by herds of deer that there just isn’t any room for any more.

b-12

Maybe I should drive up there and investigate.

b-13

I suppose it is more likely that some deer just have more refined taste than other deer.

b-14

So they move down to where there is a more eclectic mix of things to eat.

b-15

Basically, these are ‘hipster foodie’ deer.

The party… part 5… (Or): Did I mention there were babies and dogs there? Oh, and there was one truly magical moment…

a-1

I met this adorable young lady. I made her smile and that made my day.

a-2

I didn’t take pictures of all the dogs I played with… I was drinking… I had my hands full.

a-3

I was lucky to be near by for a magical moment. A little boy spotted the baby, and came over, climbed onto the couch, and this happened…

a-4

He gave her a hug. It was beautiful… sniff… stupid allergies…

a-5

She is very huggable, you must admit.

a-6

So yeah, a party, for a good friend, with games and kids and dogs and babies… and free beer and tacos…

a-7

And we got the birthday boy a gift… which I wrapped myself… in leftover Christmas stuff… because I am at my mom’s house, and that was all I could find.
