Attention all loyal minions… and the rest of you too… Let’s get to 33,333!!!

a 1 a 1

As much as I love the fact that you are all commenting on the post I did about the big dog… or the one where I insulted the big oil companies… can we talk about dogs and greedy bastards on the post where we are trying to break the record for most comments on a post… and get into the Guinness Book Of World Records?

We are already at 33,186! But how cool would 33,333 look when the Guinness people come to check us out?

So click the link at the top of the sidebar over there on the right. Or use this link, which will take you right to the comment box on that post:

http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u/#respond

Maybe you can be the person who goes down in history by leaving the 33,333th comment.

I met a cool dog yesterday…

a 1 a 1

He was really big… that stick he is chewing on is really a large branch.

a 1 a 2

We went to a little music festival. We brought our dog, and I met a lot of nice dogs. But this one was special.

a 1 a 3I like dog lips… like black, leathery little bat wings.

a 1 a 4

Even when I petted him, he didn’t stop chewing on his branch. He gnawed that thing to wet sawdust. Oh, and just so you know, Mollie’s date to the Homecoming dance last night, the one with the new boyfriend who made her that Tardis, went well. They looked adorable together. Had a great time. So, uh, yeah.

You know that post where we are trying to break the record for the most comments on a single post… yeah, the one that has 32,514 comments on it… yeah, the one that WordPress still can’t or won’t tell us what the actual record is… yeah, the one that has more comments than the few we could find that have anywhere near that many comments, and they only have that many because they wrote something horrible or stupid, and went viral, and people commented just to tell them how much they suck… well I just submitted our post to the Guinness Book Of World Records… so remember when I told you to leave a comment on our post because it might go down in history? Well, it really might… and if we haven’t broken that record, maybe I will get one for the longest title of a post ever… and if that doesn’t do the trick, how about the fact that one of the comments on our record-breaking post was typed by a cat… yes, I know, cats type on blogs all the time, but has a cat ever typed a comment on a post with more than 30,000 comments??? I doubt it.

  • List of X says:

    n k,jjmkxkjmjmjmjmjmjmjm uj ;/ddcffffffffff

    • List of X says:

that comment was actually typed by my cat.

      **********************

Yes, we might actually get into the Guinness Book Of World Records… maybe… if they decide to let us… I mean, I did submit an application and tell them what we are doing… so, if you haven’t yet, get over to our record-breaking post and leave a comment… before you miss the bus.

The link is over there on the sidebar.

And read some comments while you are there… reply to some random people… make a friend or two… Or just stick you pet on the keyboard and let them go nuts.

Oh yeah, I carved that…

Big Johnny… that’s Willie’s dad for those of you not following along… put this picture of the tiki I carved for him up on Facebook. I must admit, I like the hat.

Wait… If I get a shirt made with a picture of me on it, then have someone take a picture of me wearing the shirt, and then have that picture put on a shirt and so on and so on, and then walk around with the same goofy look on my face as the pictures on the shirts, how is that not the coolest thing ever???

Attention loyal minions! We are having a reunion on that post where we are trying to break the record for the most comments ever on a WordPress post, so it is time for you to get your lazy butts back to work!

In case you didn’t know, we have this post that has 31,416 comments on it… which may or may not be a record for a single post… but we can’t be sure, because according to WordPress, that is the one stat that they don’t keep track of…

But the beauty of our post is that it isn’t some crazy hate rant that went viral. It is a love fest. People do weird stuff there. We have fun. We write poems and have flirting contests and drunken reunions.

So, if you haven’t put a comment there, here is the link that will take you directly to the comment box: http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u/#respond

I hope that link still works. If not, you can just click on the link over on the top side of my sidebar over there to the right. But then you have to wait while all those comments load.

Please join us. I am slating this entire weekend as a reunion. I hope some of the minions will be there. If you haven’t left a comment on this post yet, just do it. At the very least, you will become part of history and help us get to 50,000 comments one of these days. Or read some random sections of the comment threads… I guarantee it will blow your mind.

And you will meet some really cool bloggers. Feel free to pick random comments and reply to them, no matter how old they are… that is how this crazy thing works.

This post isn’t really about the birds… it’s about the camera that took the picture of the birds… sort of…

We went to visit my wife’s aunt and uncle this weekend… you know, they are the ones who own the dog that is best friends with our dog… and I took some pictures of some woodpeckers.

a 1 a 1

I like woodpeckers as much as the next person, but I was really doing an experiment with my camera. I wanted to see which photo would turn out better, the one where I zoomed in with my camera, or the one where I cropped the picture in Photoshop to get a close up.

Here is the picture with the camera zoomed in…

a 1 a 2It’s a little blurry. I don’t know if that is from me not holding the camera perfectly still, or just the fact that I have a really cheap camera.

Now here is the one where I took the photo with no zoom, and just used the fact that the pictures are really huge in the memory card in the camera… like 39 inches wide… and then cropped the image down to the middle bit with the bird in it. The picture still ended up about 9 inches wide, which is the size I use for posts now…

a 1 a 3It still isn’t perfectly clear, but that might be from the bird moving when I took the picture. The tree looks a little better in this one.

I don’t know what we learned from this experiment… other than the fact that I really need a better camera… but that is just the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Oh yeah, my older daughter posted this on Facebook…

**********

My dad has 2,335 followers on his blog.

I can’t get over the fact that 2,335 people looked at the crazy inner workings of my dad’s brain and thought, “YES! More of this, please!”

**********

She also added a link to this blog. That is the best backhanded compliment I ever got from a twenty-something-year-old!

Also, in unrelated Facebook news, I found this picture of Willie…

A sunset, a dog, and a picture of my big, old head that really shows how pretty my eyes are…

After our dinner with the sharks and our walk around that fancy resort, we took the dog to her favorite dog beach… just in time to watch the sun set…

a 1 a 1

San Diego does have nice sunsets. It is partly because of the palm trees and the bays and the Pacific Ocean, and partly because the climate makes really awesome clouds. Clouds add a lot to a sunset.

a 1 a 2

I suppose it doesn’t hurt that we have so much pollution in the air, drifting over from Los Angeles. The particles of car exhaust refract the light and add the extra colors. Sorry, that is just a sad truth.

a 1 a 3

It is something to think about. When we finally pollute this planet to the point where we are all choking and gasping for air, at least we can all die looking at some really awesome sunsets.

a 1 a 4

To get that mental image out of your head, there is a slightly fuzzy picture of a slightly fuzzy dog.

a 1 a 5

Hey, that one turned out rather nicely.

a 1 a 6

And there is that picture of my eyes I promised you. Okay, my hair looks goofy… and I could have shaved first… but my eyes change color, ladies… just sayin’…

a 1 a 7

To be honest, I didn’t take that selfie to impress you with my sexy eyes… which I wrote a poem about, you might recall… but because I wore a hat at dinner due to the fact that we were outside in the sun, and when I took it off later, my wife and Mollie were laughing because my hair was standing straight up in back. That never happened back when I had really long hair. You might also notice, in the picture above, that Mollie is taking a picture of my hair… no doubt to put on Facebook later in an attempt to get me back for times I embarrassed her. Oh, 15-year-olds… they never give up trying.

a 1 a 8

Okay, people, catch you later.

Birds and beaches… and sunglasses and spider webs… and stuff…

After our lovely meal with the sharks… see what happens when you miss even one of my posts… you have no idea what the heck I am talking about… I mean, uh, even more than usual… we walked to that tall, wrought iron tower thing to enjoy the view.

a 1 a 1

I took that picture from the top of the tower. You might remember the tower from my series about how I was dating again, but it was okay because I am dating my wife. Anyway, I love that picture, the way the focus is on the spider web and not the view. I am so dang artistic.

a 1 a 2

I really have to remember to take more spider web shots.

a 1 a 3

There is a more standard picture of a view of San Diego.

a 1 a 4

It is funny how you can sometimes forget the beauty that surrounds you in everyday life… well, not me, I am an artist and still a kid at heart, so I notice flowers and babies and sunsets and clouds and stuff.

a 1 a 5

We walked around the same grounds of the same fancy hotel where the Barefoot Bar and Grill is located, because our younger daughter wasn’t there the first time. Besides, I have a blogging friend who likes ducks…

a 1 a 6And I’m sure he will be impressed by that black and white duck up there. Come on… it looks like a cow…

a 1 a 7That resort is really quite nice. We stayed there once… one of those ‘staycations’. We might have to do that again.

a 1 a 8And then, in the window of a little boutique on the resort grounds, I spotted the sweatshirt with a pineapple with sunglasses on it. Now I want to do a whole series of Photoshop pictures of my sunglasses… which I am now famous for… on various random inanimate objects. I already did a series of pictures with my sunglasses on animals, and famous people, both living and dead… and cartoon… so where have you been?

a 1 a 9I don’t really know why I took that picture… or bothered to share it with you… but those two seagulls on a roof just seemed to be so involved with… something…. that it struck me as funny.
