So, about that post we did that has 36,930 comments… part 5…

Yes, if you have been following along with this, or if you joined in our reunion party on our record-breaking post… or if you just go back a few posts to part one of this series, you will see that we went from 35,927 comments to 36,930 comments… in less than one weekend… on one single post… oh yeah.

Now we all know I suck at math, but that is more than 1,000 comments in just a couple of days, right? Even considering the fact that half of those are my reply comments… and the fact that I did a whole bunch of those comments last night when I was pretty drunk… we did good, people.

And I want to thank everybody that was there last night. We had some fun. I was typing up a storm. I may have to go back and read the comments to see what I missed. Because I was hammered.

Anyway, the reunion party is still going on , so if you want to be a part of history, meet some cool new blogger friends, or just have a place to hang out and tell bad jokes, or blow off some steam or whatever, please go to the post that is highlighted in the blue words in the link over there on the sidebar——————————–>

I guess I will stop doing this series of posts for now… until our next reunion… but remember, the chat room/blog post is always open. We might as well shoot for at least 50,000 in the long run, right?

So, about that post we did that has 35,927 comments… part 1…

This is it. The official announcement. We are having another of our drunken reunion parties on that post…You know the one… there is a link right over there in the sidebar

—————————————————>

If you haven’t left at least one comment there, you are missing out.

I am going to be doing a bunch of posts to get people to show up this weekend. And I mean all weekend. This party starts now, and ends… when I say it ends.

In the meantime I will be doing posts reminding you of how much fun you have had on that post… or telling you how much fun you are going to have there. I will tell you how the post came about, and fill you in on a few of the things that make it such a fun place to hang out. Because we might have invented the very first blog/chat room hybrid in the history of the interwebs.

And it is a great place to meet new blogger friends.

Please do not comment on this post.

Save your words for the history books.

I have two ideas for my next children’s book… and one of them might get me in trouble…

I have this old cartoon story I started way back when I was a teenager about a wizard named Gad who creates the universe and everything in it…

a 1 a 1

I scanned it and began some preliminary work on cleaning up the artwork and so on. The thing is… well, you knew there would be a thing, I told you so right in the title… that some religious people might be upset by this story. The fact that the wizard’s name sounds so much like the word ‘god’… and the way he creates everything… well, it might be construed as a thinly veiled play on the biblical creation story…

a 1 a 2

Because… you know… it is a thinly veiled play on the whole biblical creation story…

a 1 a 3Now far be it from me to go out of my way to enrage the people who take religion too seriously… but on the other hand, it is a really cute story with a really cute character and lots of really bad puns and jokes…

a 1 a 4And kids love magic, right?

My other idea is to do a book about all the things that would be fun to be, and then drawing inanimate objects with legs and arms and faces. Because when you get right down to it, every animal has already been used as an animated character, and so have most of the inanimate objects. I mean, they have talking sponges, talking snowmen, singing vegetables, and a rodent is the freekin’ mascot for one of the biggest corporate empires on Earth.

I knew science fiction was a challenge when I started my sci-fi series. Go ahead, try to invent a picture of an alien in your head that doesn’t look like one of the millions of aliens that are out there in the science fiction universes. But I didn’t realize how hard it would be to come up with new ideas for kids.

Bacon, rattlesnakes, spotty horses, sugar cookies… and other things that remind me of Thanksgiving…

Well, thanks to our recent computer malfunctions, I never did share any pictures of our Thanksgiving. But I am not going to bore you with pictures of tasty turkey…

a 1 a 1

Ha!!! I lulled you into a false sense of security and then, bam! A picture of tasty turkey… sort of… those are some snacks my wife made. They are cinnamon rolls with bacon feathers, candy eyes, candy corn beaks and red licorice wattles…

a 1 a 3

Wait, wattles, that is what those weird, dangly things under a turkey’s chin are called, right? Anyway, you know I had to put my own spin on it, so the next day, I turned my breakfast snack from a turkey to a rattlesnake…

a 1 a 4Because I am an artist… and I wanted to eat the bacon first…

a 1 a 5Now most of you who have been here for a while know that whenever we spend Thanksgiving at my wife’s aunt and uncle’s house, just 30 or so miles North of San Diego, we always walk after we eat and visit the ranch just up the road. They have horses… and a donkey… and stuff. That is Pongo up there, one of my favorites. But I met a new horse this time.

a 1 a 7Is that a beautiful horse or what?

a 1 a 8She was a little shy, but you know I got her to come over and let me pet her with a little patience. And now, just to finish up, a random, gratuitous picture of Willie, who came over to our house the day after Thanksgiving, to decorate some cookies.

Polar bears are cool… and you better keep them cool… or they get lazy…

I like polar bears, but San Diego might not have the best climate for happy polar bears.

a 1 a 1

When it’s getting close to Christmas and it is still 80 degrees outside, the polar bears get lazy.

a 1 a 2

Maybe wild polar bears spend most of their time sleeping. I could Google it. I ought to know this already, because I watch a lot of nature documentaries. But I do know that the polar bears in San Diego spend a lot of time doing this…

a 1 a 4And sometimes, even when they are standing up and sniffing around for food, they look like they might be asleep…

a 1 a 3

I believe the zoo has a live video feed of the polar bears you can look at on the internet. I know they have one for the panda bears.

a 1 a 5Yes, I do know that isn’t a panda bear… it is a camel… I was just mentioning the fact that you could watch the panda or polar bears plying on your computer if you want to. I threw in the picture of a camel because that is an animal that likes the weather in San Diego.

a 1 a 8And I threw in the llama because he is cute.

Hey, did you know they have animals at the zoo???

a 1 a 1

I am not making this stuff up… What I did make up was a really funny chapter about how zoos came about, not only on this planet, but on most alien planets that have advanced life forms as well. I made that up and put it in my action/adventure/humor science fiction series called: The Otherwhere Chronicles… available right over there in my sidebar if you click on the pictures of my book covers… not that I am turning a cute post about a trip to the zoo and meeting an adorable little goat into a chance to market my books or anything…

a 1 a 2Although that chapter is almost as funny and awesome as tiny horses…

a 1 a 3Just sayin’…

a 1 a 4Oh, and I did stop this parrot from wandering away when the bird guy turned his back for a moment… because I am a hero… just  like that other me from the other universe that is the hero in my books…

a 1 a 5In book three, which I am editing right now with the help of  a few blog friends, my hero meets an alien who speaks only lines from Monty Python skits… which is hilarious and at the same time heartbreaking when it turns out that it is using the famous dead parrot sketch to explain… well, never mind, if you wanted to know the story, I am sure you would have bought the first two books by now.

a 1 a 6

The colors of those feathers really is remarkable, isn’t it?

a 1 a 7

And then there was this little guy with the huge eyes…

a 1 a 8

He hardly reminded me of any aliens from my novels… maybe just a little around the eyes.

a 1 a 9

And that guy, well, he just reminds me of Christmas.

If lovin’ me is wrong, I don’t want to be right… but this is so wrong… on so many levels…

imageedit_1_5613021414

I know… believe me, I know… none of us will ever get the image of me leaning in and planting a sloppy, wet kiss… on my own bad self. And the really sick part is that I tried to slip myself some tongue…

I just want you all to know that I did this in support of all my gay friends everywhere… and because, well, come on, man… it is pretty funny…

You know who could have fought ISIS and Ebola at the same time?

a 1 a 1

Yeah… that’s right… the Duke… John Wayne…

a 1 a 2

I don’t know how much good he would have been against global climate change… his politics were sort of screwed up… but still, it would be nice to have him around now.
