We are on the final countdown for Jessica, my older daughter, and Jason, my future-son-in-law, to get hitched. A little over a month.
So our house was full of love this weekend.
It was also full of homemade snacks!
Oh, and homemade flowers, that my wife made, by using food coloring to dye coffee filters and then scrunching them together.
Oh, yeah.
And Big Johnny and Eva drove all the way to San Diego from the Bay Area, so I got to spend some quality time with my godson, William. More to follow.
Okay, who knows what city that is?
Hint… that might not be a waterfront… remember, I can put the reflecting water anywhere I want!
If you are playing ‘name that city’, this should be an easy one… but the next one won’t be.
Let’s add some cities to this series! It is still a gentle nod to global warming, but it looks pretty. And we can play ‘name that city’!

Okay, the Matterhorn reflecting in water is beautiful… but it is also a fairly poignant reminder of global climate change.
I mean, obviously he had some other important things to do… like making sure the bear and wolf populations are kept to a minimum through the clever use of air power, and making sure there aren’t too many sneaky animals trying to get put on the endangered species list, and trying to get the levels of coal waste up to acceptable levels in our rivers and streams, not to mention getting all those pesky bad hombres out of the country… but still…

I am my sunshine, my only sunshine…
Go ahead, take any love song and change all the ‘you’ words in it to ‘I’ or ‘me’… which ever makes more sense grammatically… then, walk around singing it at the top of your lungs… all day. It will cheer you and everyone you are close to up.
Some days, you just have to hang around the house… our house, in this case, because they are still redoing their kitchen.
We did take a walk.
And, as usual, she had to touch every flower she saw.
The thing about Olivia is that she is such a kind, gentle, sweet kid.
Most two-year-olds… (and much older when it comes to boys)… will rip leaves and petals off plants.
Not Olivia. She caresses them, or pets them… like the living things they are.
It really is rather astounding.
Okay… that’s just weird…
Hey, it happens. Modern life requires a lot of thinking, and that can be exhausting. Some people are just more comfortable if they have leaders who do their thinking for them. I mean, why should you waste your precious brain cells trying to figure out who to hate, and and how to make your life better without having to do much work? It is so much easier to have someone who is smarter than you… someone with a brain that works biggly and hugely… dictate your thoughts to you. To dictate not only ways to make your country great again, but to have dictated in the first place the idea that the country wasn’t great anymore. What a relief to have a strong leader who can dictate your every though and action.
If only we had a word for leaders who dictate all this stuff.
