I had a really good tiger day… part 5…

a 1

Oh, stop being so melodramatic, little orangutan, I know you aren’t a tiger.

a 2

No, Olivia, I am not calling you a tiger either…

a 3

I just started using the tiger thing as the title for this series of posts, and now I am stuck with it.

a 4

I know, not as clever as my ‘ZOOm lens chronicles’ series titles.

a 5

But I already used a few variations of that.

a 6

I was only making the point that, when I took Olivia to the San Diego zoo, we were lucky enough to see the tigers really close up.

a 7

And that doesn’t always happen.

a 8

It doesn’t mean I love the rest of you any less.

a 9

But, come on, tigers are pretty awesome!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled photos of tigers and other animals… and other weird stuff… in order to share the last few pictures I took of Mollie, my younger daughter, and her friends, just before their senior prom…

a 1

Yes, my daughter looks beautiful, and yes, her boyfriend is handsome.

a 2

Don’t worry, I am not sharing all the pictures I took, just some of the best ones.

a 3

Because that is what I do here, share my life, and my kids are a big part of my life.

a 4

Also, I thought it was important to show that teenage boys have a sense of humor, and don’t take life too seriously.

a 5

I know, Dashawn is dreamy, am I right?

a 6

Anyway, that about wraps it up for these.

a 7

Okay… one more of my daughter’s boyfriend…

a 8

I like the way the little hair curl makes a shadow on his forehead.

I had a really good tiger day… part 4…

a 1

Okay… yes… I know… once again, that isn’t exactly a tiger… but you must admit it is a good photo of a cute little bird.

a 2

And the San Diego zoo has other animals besides tigers.

a 3

And really, how many tiger pictures do you want to look at?

a 4

I mean, you are going to get bored if I just post all of the tiger pictures at once.

a 5

On the other hand, I suppose some of you are getting bored with the pictures of birds too… so… uh…

a 6

Tiger!

a 7

Yes, I am aware that plants aren’t even animals… but I like the bromeliads.

a 8

I can never remember if they have flowers, or just really colorful leaves.

a 9

Also, get ready for some good pictures of other animals… because really, it isn’t all about the tigers.

I had a really good tiger day… part 3…

a 1

But it wasn’t all tigers, oh no. There were birds at the San Diego zoo also.

a 2

I love the aviaries, and my favorite is the one full of jungle plants and little birds that move really fast.

a 3

You need to be patient and sneaky to get good photos.

a 4

But it does pay off.

a 5

I like the challenge.

a 6

I also like the colors.

a 7

My photo of a hummingbird in flight didn’t come out as well as I was hoping.

a 8

But they can’t all be great pictures, can they?

What did you do at work today, daddy? (or): What do republican politicians tell their kids?

a 4

Seriously… I want to know. How do republicans go home at night and talk to their children? Do they just came out and say: “Well, I made it legal for people to shoot baby bears and dump toxic coal mine sludge into streams and rivers. Oh, and I made it easy for crazy people to buy guns, but harder for poor people to get medical coverage. But don’t worry, I also cut the taxes on rich people!”  Or is there some sort of spin you can put on all that?

I had a really good tiger day… part 2…

a 1

The best thing about tigers… from a photographer’s point of view… is that, when they are out where you can see them, they tend to pace back and forth…

a 2

This lets you capture them from several angles.

a 3

Maybe only bored zoo tigers do this, but I like that picture right there.

a 4

Ear signal spots!

a 5

Nice kitty!

a 6

Okay, enough tiger… for now…

a 7

Here are two pictures of birds I took at the San Diego zoo that were too good to delete, but not good enough to make it in to the bird posts I will do later…

a 8

Sorry, birds, my fault, not yours.

a 9

That is the face Olivia makes when she is done going down the slide, and just wants some dang French fries.

I had a really good tiger day… part 1…

a

So I took my buddy, my friend’s daughter, Olivia, to the world famous San Diego Zoo… (you have to say ‘world famous’ or the people here get mad!)… No, I know, her mom isn’t even working because she is due to have the twins soon, and grandma is still here helping… I just borrowed Olivia.

a 1

Nope, it wasn’t even part of my evil plan to take babysitting gigs away from teenage girls by undercutting their prices… I did it for free… because… Olivia! Besides, two-year-olds are my people.

a 2

Now, most days, you barely see the tigers. They are way up in the back or hiding and sleeping. But today was a good tiger day.

a 3

I did have the zoom lens. It was a pretty good orangutan day, too.

a 4

And birds… I took a lot of bird pictures.

a 5

We didn’t see the baby gorilla, but I got some good shots of the adults.

a 6

But I have a lot of tiger pictures… these are like the most boring of the bunch.

a 7

Random flower pic! I think that is a bromeliad.

a 8

So get ready for a lot of animal posts… mostly about tigers.

I wonder if Trump has collusion insurance…

a 1

Talk about getting rear-ended!

Do I even need to type any words?

It isn’t about Trump and his minions anymore, it is about the republican establishment enablers…

a 1

If you still think trRump is doing a good job, then you are either so brainwashed by FOX Alternative News, or have such an amazing ability not to let facts enter your cranial cavity, that nothing I say is going to make any difference.

This has gone beyond worrying about how tRump got elected, or how he hasn’t been fired yet. I can even understand… and almost sympathize with… his minions and toadies who owe their jobs to him, and spend all their time trying to explain what he just said or did in a way that makes sense to people with brains and morals.

No, now this about the rank and file republicans who pretend to be working for the American people, and caring about their safety. Yes, I’m talking to you, you spineless, animated phlegm statues! You corrupt, suppurating swamp-dwellers who can’t work up the courage to stand up to the idiot you helped create. If you all turned on him, he would be powerless. If you all took a stand for decency and this country you claim to love, you could prove to the world that you are still actual people and not just politicians.

But no, you make excuses for him, you enable him, you hide behind his power and try to gain some sustenance from it, and when he takes this country down, you won’t just go with him. You will have to admit, at least to yourselves, that it is partly your fault. That you could have stood up to him, but you didn’t, because you liked to nibble on the little crumbs of power that he dropped while you scampered around him like diseased rats.

I hope your children are proud of you… and I hope your grandchildren will be alive long enough to have to try to explain what you did.
