Still in Arizona, visiting my daughter, and I spotted this Peregrine falcon from her balcony.

It is like my mom always says.

Nature in the wild is seldom mild.

It is a bird eat bird world out there.

Seriously, does the groovy rainbow animation filter ever get old?

Yeah, I got that from this…

Why? Because I can… and I am busy today.

So, I went out walking in the Arizona desert, just to prove that I really am here. There are no wild flowers or cactus flowers or any kind of flowers blooming.

But there is still a kind of majestic beauty to be found.

And there are millions of these Saguaro cacti… which, ironically, are considered a threatened species.

A Saguaro skeleton. I think what happened is that landscapers dug up so many of these to put in gardens and other places, that it tipped some sort of environmental balance.

And of course they take the healthiest ones.

The little Cholla cacti are doing fine, if you were wondering.

This is just a mock-up. The text will not be exactly like that. And I think I will add more ships to show how huge the Black Fleet is. Remember, this will wrap around the book, so the left side will be on the back cover. I will put some more words there. Is it too cluttered?
Maybe I will put the text on the back in a white box, or a white cloud. I have had fun with the ships. They are all just the same ship, but I altered each one a little, with markings and other little changes. I also changed the propulsion flames.
Bonus points if you noticed that the moon in the lower left is one of my photos of that super blood moon that came out so poorly. I think it works here.

Don’t worry, there will be words on it. And this is in the very early stages. You may remember that when I went to visit my mom in the Bay Area not too long ago, I was doing the final editing on this book. It is finished. I am driving to Arizona to visit my daughter tomorrow, and she is going to try to teach me how to compile and format my books without her help. Wish her luck.
I am going to add a lot more of those space ships, because it is supposed to be the Black Fleet, invading one dimension from another. It is manned by the Keelar… those little aliens that I just did a picture of for you. This picture will wrap around the book, covering both front and back.

The thing is… (hey, thing, what’s up?)… that I stole the ship design from that cool ship that my son-in-law did for me when he designed the cover for the second book in the series. I altered the ship, and am going to make thousands of them. I will do more posts as the work progresses. I have to change each ship a little, and make the cool propulsion flames a little different. But I do know how to do the covers myself now.
