But wait, it is going to get weirder…

A weird, foggy sunrise in San Diego…

a 2

I took my youngest daughter, Mollie, to the train station on the coast this morning, so she could get back to college.

a 1

She took these pictures with her cell phone as we drove on the freeway. The sun was just coming up behind those clouds…

a 3

Except those aren’t really clouds. That is the back side of a big fog bank that we had driven through. Also, note the mist hugging the ground over a small lagoon at the bottom of the valley.

I don’t suck at blowing glass!!!… part 2…

a 1

I know, but I did warn you that I had more photos of my first two glass blowing projects… although, I suppose, technically, the paperweight thing on the right, my very first project, didn’t require any blowing at all.

a 2

I was so excited when I got them home that I took them out in the yard and took a bunch of photos, trying to get the right angles and the right lighting to show them off.

a 3

And, good or bad, I can’t stand to not post these pictures.

a 4

Not only that…

a 5

But when I finish posting the photos, I am going to take 4 or 5 of the best ones…

a 6

And do some fun stuff with them.

a 8

That is just the way my crack squirrel-infested cranium works.

a 9

Sorry.

I said we were going to have some fun with this… part 5…

Yes, I know, this makes no sense at all if you don’t go back and look at the earlier posts in this series… and probably not even if you do.

I don’t suck at blowing glass!!!

a 1

I finally got to pick up my first two glass blowing projects! If you are interested in how glass blowing happens, I did a post about that already. But now we get to see how the finished projects look once they are cooled and the colors are set.

a 2

I know, it is just a paper weight/objectd’art, and a simple flower vase, but I love them. I loved making them. I love holding them.

a 3

I love that picture. I set them on the table that I use for so much other art. It is a tall, round bar table. I carve tikis on that table. I write my novels and children’s books on that table. I am typing this blog post on that table. I also stained and varnished that table.

a 4

When I was making the vase, I came up with the idea of leaving the top edge like that. I pulled the soft glass out into leaf shapes. I have signed up for two more classes, and I hope to make a bunch of vases like this for Christmas presents.

a 5

The paper weight thing was my very first project. I made a weird, blobby shape, adding colors, using tools to cut and twist the glass. The teacher then encased it in the big, clear outer shell.

a 6

As is often true with photography, I don’t think the pictures capture the essence of the art.

a 7

The swirling colors dance with the sunlight.

a 8

I was so excited I forgot to even wipe the finger prints off them.

a 9

The vase isn’t symmetrical, but I love that too. Nature isn’t symmetrical. I think it will look good full of flowers, and I can’t wait to make more. I also have more photos of these coming… so… uh… yeah…

Don’t know what this is? Well, then, maybe you shouldn’t come in on number 4 of a series.

Trump says he doesn’t blame China for ‘raping’ the United States… we were asking for it….

a 3

This is, in no way, an exaggeration. When he was running for president, Trump said that the trade deals with China were so bad, that China was ‘raping’ our country. Now, when he is in China, he says he doesn’t blame them. This is a keen insight into the man who is ‘running’ our country… on so many levels.

Another San Diego sunset…

a 1

I will do the rest of these in the order I took them, but this one struck me as being the best lead in.

a 2

It was just one of those jaw-dropping sunsets.

a 3

The kind that a photograph never does justice too.

a 4

It was good enough to make me climb up into my 50-foot-tall pine tree to take some pictures.

a 5

And, as long as I was perched precariously up there, of course I played around with alternating the focus on the sunset and the tree itself.

a 6

Because you never know how those might turn out.

a 7

The colors slowly shifted from orange to red.

a 8

Oh, look, I caught the silhouette of a palm tree… and those bleepin’ phone lines.

a 9

I don’t know why that one is orange again. I swear, these are in order.

a 10

Anyway…

a 11

I guess I didn’t need to share all of these.

a 12

But I did risk my life climbing a tree in dim light.

a 13

So there you go.

I would watch this show… especially if it was filmed in a real prison…
