Last weekend, my wife surprised our younger daughter Mollie and her boyfriend Ben by taking them down to the Bahia Hotel for a staycation. I couldn’t stay the night, I was working, but I joined them for breakfast on Saturday.
The Bahia has a small pool out front where they take care of two rescue seals… both of which are blind.
But they are so cute!
Wait, I think they are seals… but maybe they are sealions… or not. I think those are bigger. I should know this.
Whichever, you gotta love them.
One of them got hold of a feeder buoy, put the metal weight on her tummy, and chewed on the rope.
Oh, good times.
It was a little overcast when I got down to the bay, but it cleared up later.
The Pacific Ocean is right behind those building over there.
I know, it looks like the Mississippi River, but we have paddle wheelers in Southern California too.
The Confederacy, fighting for slavery, ripping the country apart, and then losing.
Nazis, fighting for slavery and mass murder, ripping the world apart, and then losing.
Donald tRump, standing for all kinds of horrible things, ripping the country apart, causing a still unknown number of deaths by his poor handling of the virus, and then losing.
What is it that makes these causes draw people to them? They all had one thing in common. They were led and made up of white men who wanted things to go their way. Has it occurred to you, and I say this as a white male, that if you keep pushing too hard, the rest of the world might just decide to stop putting up with your nonsense, and trust me, world wide, you are not a majority. You do not want to force everybody else to lower themselves to your level of violence and hatred. I don’t care how many guns you have squirreled away in your basement. Put down the Confederate flags, the Nazi banners, and the MAGA hats, get yourself some pot, and just chill out.
I know, this is a lame little video, but it was the first time I really flew my drone. I got the drone for Christmas. Not this year… or last year, I guess that would be… but the year before. It was a cheap little drone. To get it set up to fly, you had to calibrate it, which involved a Shaman dance, and spinning it and rotating it and flipping it. Also, controlling the drone and the camera was really hard by yourself. I did sort of like that the video and photos went directly to your phone. That is my son-in-law, Jason, helping me to fly that crazy little thing.
That still picture was taken the first time I got it off the ground in my mom’s yard in the Bay Area. That is my older daughter, Jessica, who was instrumental in getting me a drone as a gift. The video was shot in front of my mom’s house.
Don’t worry this series of posts will get more interesting.
Here is an audio clip from the episode I am getting ready to send out soon, in which I interview the Grim Reaper… and the Tooth Fairy pops in, because it turns out they used to date.
In this clip, Jimmy, the crack squirrel that lives in my head, asks Grim some questions about what happens to him after he and I die…
As a bonus, I am including a commercial from the podcast for the Betty Love’s Sausage company, and the theme song for the same, as sung by the Grim Reaper himself.
This commercial was voiced by my daughter Mollie’s boyfriend, Ben.
