That right there is a towel-hanging rack… I hope… in the guest bathroom at my wife’s aunt and uncle’s house. I thought it would be fun to try to outdo one another thinking up clever names.

My contribution is this:

The Rockattes!

See, it is a play on the Rockettes, the famous line of high-kicking female dancers in New York… because the cats look like they are high-kicking… but you pronounce it ‘raw-cats’… but then the crack squirrels that live in my head made me think about what it would look like if you sent a bunch of the real Rockettes to a taxidermist… a really sick taxidermist… and had them stuffed and mounted in mid-kick… and what would you call that… and what would you hang on their feet?

See, just be glad you don’t have crack squirrels living in your cranium!

That is a woodpecker… sitting on a feeder full of jelly… suddenly realizing that jelly is a lot easier to peck than wood is…

That is not a woodpecker… that is a nuthatch… which isn’t really a better-sounding name than woodpecker, is it? And I just realized that all this time I could have been saving my pictures at 10-inches-wide instead of nine, because the top picture fills the page better than this picture… and if that is still true when I post this post, I will have a look on my face like that woodpecker…

That is also a nuthatch… maybe the same one… how the heck should I know… do I look like an ornithologist??? I took these pictures at my wife’s aunt and uncle’s house… where my older daughter is getting married next year… which is located near the house that her… my wife’s… aunt and uncle… used to own… where my wife and I got married years ago… try to keep up…

My dad used to take pictures of flowers… I mean, not just flowers… but I remember going places with him, and he would stop and crouch down, and get the lens in close to a little flower… in just the right spot to capture the beauty, the light, the moment…

San Diego is full of beautiful flowers… even though, technically, it is a desert…

But if you want to see a lot of awesome flowers in one spot, check out the botanical garden building in Balboa Park…

And it is right by the world famous San Diego zoo, where I have taken so many pictures to share with you.
