Your 5 minutes of fame… you’re welcome…

Here is a quick list of all you bloggers I have so far managed to stick into my new world war two London murder mystery that I am writing here on the blog as we speak. I will even do a link for them.

http://edwardhotspur.wordpress.com/ Ed Hotspur plays Edmund Hotspur, owner and proprietor of the Black Mare, an olde English pub.

http://addercatter.wordpress.com/ She is now Katherine ‘Kat’ Crowley, daughter of Major General Sir Edward Crowley and sister of the first murder victim, and she seems to be more than interested in our hero, Inspector Charlie Baker as well.

http://wildersoul.wordpress.com/ stars as Anasera Trinonoff, her parents fled the Czar’s Russia, and their lovely daughter is now a barmaid at the Black Mare

http://elroyjones.wordpress.com/ Meet Elroy Jones, a London cabbie whose American father deserted him and his mother when Elroy was young. He is a  friend of Charlie’s Uncle Jack, who also drives a cab. Because London cabbies know everything that is going on… and it’s funny because the real Elroy Jones is a lady… the blogger, not the cabbie… oh keep up…

http://guapola.wordpress.com/ El Guapo plays a police constable with the unlikely name of Eustace Esterhauze… because that is the name he told me to use… but this is one funny copper… with good posture… because his dad was a butler…

http://dkorthbooks.wordpress.com/ A writer friend of mine who is currently publishing an anthology of weird fairy tales, one of which I wrote, plays Marie Korlette, a mysterious and perhaps too sexy French woman who somehow managed to sneak onto an English destroyer during the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk… and is now causing real trouble… well, soon, I haven’t finished that part yet…

http://london-survival.com/ My friend Joe Hoover, who actually lives in London, appears as  RAF Flying Officer Joe Hoover, co-pilot on the Halifax bomber flown by the now deceased victim… on top secret missions… which I can’t tell you about… but I Googled it, and the secret airbase and the missions they flew there are all true…

http://trentlewin.com/ is now reborn as Warrant Officer Kent Lewin, flight engineer on the same bomber crew… and he had a motive to kill his pilot… it all comes down to that frisky French girl again…

http://pmaoaudioblog.wordpress.com/… okay, I know that looks like an advertisement for my own blog on audio… but it is a funny blog that makes fun of my blog… done by a hilarious Englishman named Trenton Babbage (Not his real name) and you should go check that blog out… but he now stars as Warrant Officer Trenton Babbage, the navigator of the infamous bomber crew.

Well, there you have it. I managed to stick all those people in the novel and I have only written five bleeping chapters so far.

So give me some input… some feedback, and join this growing list. If they make the book into a movie some day, you will regret not taking part.

Oh, and sorry I am doing so many posts every day now, but according to the NaNoWriMo word counter I am just below 10,000 words… and I need 50,000 by the end of the month. It says at this rate the novel will be done by next April… so I need to kick it up.

Good luck with your word count & novel! Too bad you didn’t remember a frequent commenter to include in your book.

I’ve been behind on my reading so far, but I am going to read it from the beginning. For now, what struck me is that “Anasera Trinonoff” is not a real Russian name, but, of course, I wouldn’t expect you to change a character name mid-way through the novel 🙂

    • Which part isn’t real? The first name or the second name?

      • List of X's avatar List of X says:

First name definitely isn’t a real name, and Russian aristocracy (or any aristocracy) were very traditional about the names they gave their kids, unlike today’s celebrities. The last name, while made up, is at least plausible.

        • ummm… the first name is the real first name of a blogger I know, and she is of Russian descent… and Russian aristocracy is a little different from the rest of Europe. Think of the size of the place, the number of ethnic groups. I admit I changed a few letters in her last name, but a it is a plausible Russian family name. The Russian nobility in the years of the Czars was not the same as the aristocracy. Hundreds of families were granted minor titles. It is a little like all the barons, earls, dukes and so forth that were raised up by English Kings and Queens for doing something useful Just a hereditary title. But they did things a little differently in Russia.

Well, guess where I come from… 🙂 I googled name “Anasera” in Cyrillic alphabet, and I did not come up with a single person on a Russian language website – but there was a match in 1850’s book listing names and geographical locations, without specifying which it is. But the last name you created actually sounds more like a nobility name than the original last name, like “Browne” vs. “Brown”. 🙂

        • Also, since I didn’t mention when the family came over, it is possible the name was Anglicized a little.

Excellent. I am honoured to be a part of this endeavour. The name change is a bit jarring, but the tendencies towards homicide are bang on.

Brilliant… can’t wait for the movie. “Go, you!” (cheering on the sidelines)
I am reading every chapter as they arrive.

  5. Of course you need The Hook – there’s always a bellman in the story!
(And thanks for the list of bloggers to explore)

10,000 words is admirable, go YOU!

Excellent. I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but will do soon
