Droning on; version 2.0… part 1…

This is my new drone. The first one was fun, but the video and photos went to my phone, and were not really great quality. This one has a video card inside it. The range is better, the stability is better.

I can understand why my family wanted to make sure I was actually going to use a drone before getting me this one.

This is how happy I looked the first time I flew the new drone. Even my younger daughter’s boyfriend looked happy as he gave me tech support. Thanks Ben.

We took it up to Kensington Hilltop school. The photos come out so good. You can see San Francisco Bay in the background.

You can even see San Francisco.

Mollie’s boyfriend, Ben, did some fly-bys so I could shoot some pictures of the drone.

That was a real highlight of this last Christmas, which was awesome, even with the quarantining and all the rest.

Stand by for more videos.

Droning on… the final chapter… sort of…

Okay, this is it, the last of the videos from my first, and not very good, drone. But it is a nice aerial shot of the street where I grew up in the Bay Area, where I played hide-and-seek, and learned to ride a bike.

Like I said, this is all leading to something…

Opinions are not the same thing as facts… (or); Some things are true, and some things aren’t… a guide to some common misconceptions… the final chapter…

That is a photo I took at Dachau. I have been to Dachau twice. I removed the color from all of the photograph except for the flowers. I wanted the simple remembrance, the tribute of the flowers, to stand out more than the ovens used to burn the bodies of the victims of Nazi tyranny.

Of all the opinions masquerading as facts, holocaust denial is the most insidious, the most evil, and the most bewildering. The historic evidence of the reality of Nazi atrocities is overwhelming. There are thousands of survivors, thousands of allied soldier who liberated the camps and witnessed the cruelty first hand.

There are records. There is testimony at trials. There are all those millions of missing people to account for.

And what does denying this reality gain anyone? If you are a racist or pro-Nazi, you should be proud of what they did. And if you are not either of those things, what do you gain from saying it never happened, or it wasn’t as bad as it is made out to be?

Please, explain to me what denying this accomplishes. I really want to know.

I finish with a map of all the camps spread across central Europe, that did exist, and were at least as bad as they are said to have been. Those are facts. Not opinions.

Droning on… part 11… the mosquito variant…

Well, as long as I am showing you the drone videos from my first drone, I might as well have fun with the audio, right?

Digital art?… part 8… now with absolutely no words explaining what the heck you are looking at, or to distract you from looking at the pretty pictures, and hey, I am not even going to post the original photo that I took and used to do all these!

Droning on… part 10…

Oh, I might not be good at controlling the drone, but I am good at droning on. Ha!

Opinions are not the same thing as facts… (or); Some things are true, and some things aren’t… a guide to some common misconceptions… part 8…

The election was not stolen. That might be your opinion, but that doesn’t make it a fact. I would be willing to bet that most of you did not even have that opinion until it was presented to you as a fact by tRump and Fox News.

Democrats have actually had elections stolen from them. We know how it feels. But we didn’t storm any federal buildings screaming about hanging anyone.

We also didn’t try to change voting laws in Democratic-run states to make it harder for Republicans to vote.

You can’t just formulate or borrow an opinion and then turn it into a fact. That is not how facts work. Believing something is right when it really isn’t is, at best, an opinion, and at worst dangerous self-delusion.

You can’t just have an opinion that you want to be true, and then use it to justify doing horrible things. We should come up with a name for that. Hey, I know. Let’s call it “fake news”!

Digital art?… part 6…

Is it a far off galaxy???

Is it a neon nightmare???

Is it abstract art???

Or is it whatever the heck that thing is???

It is all those things and many more. It is whatever you see, whatever you imagine. It is art. But mostly it is a blob of colored light reflecting on a stone floor through a window, which I took at work with my phone, and did some digital magic on.

Digital art?… part 5…

Yeah, Arthur, we get it, you love that groovy rainbow digital filter, and you like to use it on photos you took. But what is that a photo of, exactly?

I will tell you. In the next part of this series.
