Oh yeah, we are going to get drunk and party all weekend long!!!

And clothing is optional, so you can type naked if you want to…

a 1 new 1

You are all invited to a party. Me and the minions are going to throw a blowout in the secret lair in the hollow volcano. It starts this Friday… at whatever time you want to show up, and it ends Sunday… or when everyone is passed out.

So how do you get to the party of the century?

We are throwing it on that post I did where we tried to break the all-time record for the most comments on one post. Since WordPress is unable or unwilling to tell us what that number is, we decided to stop worrying about it. But as of now the post has 16,056 comments. And that is a silly number to stop at. So maybe will hit 20,000 this weekend. It doesn’t really matter… because we are going to have fun.

There will be flirting. There will be hijinks, hilarity, outrageousness, insanity, poetry, drama and romance.

Friendships will be born. Connections will be made. Love will be in the air.

We will forge these new bonds in the crucible of craziness… and whatever lava leaks out of the old magma chamber…

We will open our hearts to the experience until we are all joined in one large, tangled, sweaty mass of limbs and we have all drained each other of every conceivable human emotion… and then we will cuddle…

To get to the party, just click on this link: http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u

Have you ever been to a party on a blog post with 15,903 comments on it… no, you haven’t, it was a trick question, because I am the only one who ever got that many comments on one post, as near as we can tell…

This weekend we are throwing the blog party of the decade, and you are all invited.

I will post the details tomorrow.

If you want to come over early and get to know some of the people you will be partying with, just click on this link: http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u

A shout out to my loyal minions…

I love my crazy horde of minions!!!

a 1 new 1

I never could understand why WordPress has a ‘follow’ button. Who wants to be a follower? That just sounds like you are joining a cult. Why didn’t they call it the ‘make a new friend’ button?

And somewhere along the line I started half-jokingly calling my more loyal ‘followers’ my minions. And most of them thought it was funny. And it has sort of taken off. Then we did that crazy post where we tried to break the record for the most comments on one post, and in the course of getting those 15,487 comments, we sort of began to pretend that we really do live in a hollow volcano, have some sort of vague plan for world conquest, and are raising a minion army to help me achieve that goal.

a 1 new 2

Because hey, somebody has to put fuel in the rocket, or sweep the floors of the secret lair, or buy the groceries, or willingly give their lives when James Bond and his ninjas show up so I can sneak off to make my escape…

It is those unglamorous roles performed by minions that might make some of you feel that being a ‘minion’ is actually a step down from being a ‘follower’. You have a mental image of a minion as someone like Igor…

a 1 new 3

But ask yourself this: Could Dr. Frankenstein… or Dr. Frankenstien… have ever created his monster without trusty Igor by his side?

I prefer to think of my minions as a loyal and rather scary horde of brave warriors, like an army of Orcs… only without the whole ‘losing and getting wiped out at the end of the story’ thing… hopefully…

a 1 new 4

But however you want to look at it, I want to thank a few of my minions who went above and beyond the call of duty during those insane days when we were trying to break that comment record.

———————————

1. First, to my friend Trent at: http://trentlewin.com/

He is my official Head Minion. He is also:

Head Minion in charge of flirting, Official Hostess and Greeter for when I am busy or sleeping, and The Keeper and User of the only toilet plunger for when the toilets in the secret lair get plugged up.

During our comment record, Trent came through for me. I did half of all those comments because I tried to respond to each and every one, but he came in a close second. He made people feel welcome when I wasn’t around… and then he would get bored when he was alone and came up with some really weird stuff to keep himself occupied…  like seducing himself… seriously, if you ever get bored, go down to the ***comment here*** post, or hit this link: http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u  and read all 15,000 + comments… it will crack you up… you can even add a comment to it and become a part of history and maybe we will get to 20,000 comments some day.

2. To my friend List of X at:  http://listofx.com/

He is the official Co-Head Minion, Executive Minion in charge of sarcasm training, Battle Leader of Minion Assault Group 1, and First Runner Up of the Miss Minion beauty pageant… hey, we are an equal opportunity evil organization here…

3. Al from:  http://kattermonran.com/

Chief Minion in charge of photography, and the official minion pet veterinarian…

4.  http://toofulltowrite.wordpress.com/blog/… I don’t know if I am supposed to tell you these people’s names… but he is:

Chief Executive Assistant Head Minion, Minion in charge of whipping minions who get out of line, oh, and he teaches the minion haiku class on Thursday nights.

5. Julie… uh… she doesn’t have a blog… but she can live at mine for as long as she wants, because she cracks me up… so I am making her:

Chief Minion in charge of cracking me up.

6. And last but by no means least, Jennifer, from: http://jenniferwindram.com/

Second Chief Executive Co-Head Minion, Head Minion in charge of being all flirty and sexy, Keeper of the Funny Hat Room, the minion in charge of warm jammies, and Head Minion in charge of my moral.

—————————–

So whatever you think of the word ‘minion’, whatever way you picture them in your head… and I like to do it like this…

a 1 new 5

… ask yourself if you have what it takes to become a minion…

a 1 new 6

Because we could always use a new friend.

*** If I did not mention you by name, please forgive me… I know that hundreds of you helped make our comment post fun, and if I could have mentioned you all, I sure the hell would have***

We did it… 15,000 comments on one post…

It never went viral. It wasn’t about a subject that made people mad and generated comments that way. I just asked my friends and random strangers to come and hang around and have some fun. And we did it.

I don’t know if it is a record or not. But I know we got more comments than posts that did go viral and got millions of views. I guess technically I have to admit that half of the comments are mine, because I answered ever single comment I got. But I learned a lot about the loyalty of old friends. I also met a lot of new friends.

Now I feel sort of lost. I don’t know where to go. This is like when world war two ended. Everybody was focused on one goal for so long… and all of a sudden the war was over and people looked around and wondered what to do next.

Tomorrow I am going to do a post about some of the people who made the commenting so much fun. My loyal minion horde… my friends.

Then I guess I will go back to doing the normal abnormal stuff I do around here.

But do not despair!

I have some ideas for that post with the 15,000 comments.

We are going to keep it alive and go back there now and then to play!

We might have drunk Friday night parties there.

We can have reunions.

And maybe someday we will get that sucker up to 25,000 comments.

But for right now, it feels a little like this…

We only need 1,000 more comments to get to 15,000 on the post where we are trying to break the record for most comments, so today, just for fun and to try something new, we are going to have a contest to see who can flirt with me best…

Normally I would never suggest that you flirt with a strange man on the internet… and I am one of the strangest men on the internet… but because I am happily married and have two daughters and I am also a really nice guy who would never take something like this seriously, and besides I have no idea where you live but I bet it is pretty far away from me so you should be perfectly safe.

So come on ladies… and hey, if you guys want to try this, I have no problem with that at all…

Get your flirt on!!!

No… you know the way this works by now…

Do not get all flirty here…

We still need 1,000 more comments.

To get you in the mood, I will now put up a picture of me when I was younger… If you look at this picture closely, you can see my nipple… because I invented the wardrobe malfunction… I also invented that pose with the hand in the hair, but do I get credit for that? NO, I do not.

a me photo1

I think I was 22 in that picture. I worked in the art department at the Tower Records store in Berkeley California. This is right before I met my wife. Me and the guys in the art department were having a contest to see who could… uh… romance the most women in one month.

I won.

And I didn’t have to resort to getting anybody drunk, either.

Although… and I am not proud of this… I might have played the same original love song on my guitar and sang to each of them while sort of leaving them with the impression that I wrote that song just for them… all 13 of them…

Hey, does it sound like I had time to write 13 brand new love songs?

A guy has to sleep some time.

So a girl does a post telling women that if they have children they are losers, and she gets 12,000 + comments, but when I get more than 12,000 comments just by asking you to comment, I am not socially relevant because we aren’t talking about real issues???

(or): Join the Nazi party and throw kittens into blenders!!!

a 1 new

Oh, calm down. Don’t send me hate comments or email. I am making a point here.

***DO NOT REALLY JOIN THE NAZI PARTY OR THROW KITTENS INTO BLENDERS***

So as you may or may not know, I am involved in a social media experiment where my loyal minions, friends and followers are trying to break the record for the most comments on a WordPress post… Yes, it started as a gag to boost my stats, but it has become so much more than that.

The thing is… (hi thing, I knew you would show up today)… WordPress can’t or won’t tell us what the record is. So we have been scouting around on our own. So far, the most comments we have found on one personal, non-funded blog post was a rant by a young girl who says that women who have children will never amount to anything or live up to their potential as human beings, and she feels sorry for them. I am not going to take sides on this, even though I think she is wrong.

So this opinionated young lady gets over 12,000 comments. Most of the comments were from people telling her she was an idiot. But hey, she did get a lot of comments.

In our quest to find out how many comments we needed, a few of the responses we got, besides not being very helpful, sort of seemed to express the feeling that our little attempt to break this record was nothing but a stunt. A game. It has no social relevance.

Even my older daughter agrees with this point, and she is 23, so she knows everything.

So the point I am trying to make with my little Nazi kitten blender joke is this:

If I did a real post like that, and pissed people off so much that I got ten million comments… telling me what an ass-hat I am… is that more socially relevant that my ‘stunt’ where I just keep begging you to join us in our comment record attempt?

Is being controversial more relevant than getting people to join together for some fun?

Is talking about ‘issues’ what makes something important, even if the issue is a horrible one?

On top of that, we have turned the post in question into a chat room. We are writing poems together. We are discussing real issues in there. Yes, I admit there is a lot of silly jokes and just being weird and goofing around, but is that not a worthy goal?

People are meeting other people, following other people, and they get to be a part of something that might actually become something huge. It is still spreading around the globe. We have over 12,000 comments so far. On one post. When I go to sleep, people hang around and welcome new people.

It has taken on a life of its own

***DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS POST***

***(especially to tell me that I am bad for telling you to join the Nazi party and kill baby cats, because that was meant as humor)***

Go to this link:  http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u

And comment there… and join us… in our quest… to do… something…

Oh, you know what I mean…

We are still trying to break the record for the most comments on a WordPress post, but since WordPress can’t tell us what the record is, I have decide that we are going to shoot for 15,000, because I am the boss around here… but don’t tell my horde of minions or the crack squirrels I said that…

15,000 sounds like a lot of comments. But we already have almost 10,000… I know, I can’t believe it either. You still have time to get in on this historic event. Come and meet some new people. And become a part of history.

For some reason, WordPress claims to not keep track of what the highest comment count on personal, non-corporate blog post is… which is weird because they keep count of everything else, and even distinguish between ‘views’ and ‘visitors’, which is something that nobody even seems to want them to keep track of. But whatever. We have been trying to track down the number we have to beat on our own. We found one post that has 12,083 comments and counting. The funny thing is that the post is sort of obnoxious and many of the comments are negative. We do not have that going for us… sorry.

So unless one of you can tell me about a blog post with more comments than that, we are just going to shoot for 15,000… or more, if we feel like it… and then we are going to take our ‘unofficial record’ and drop that big steaming log of comments right on wordpress’ front porch…

a 11

Now please: ***DO NOT COMMENT ON THIS POST***

Go here:  http://wp.me/p25PYJ-21u

Or go to my blog and scroll down to the post called: ***COMMENT HERE***

And join in the craziest social media experiment of all times!

We are going to climb this mountain…

And when we are done, you can all help me eat those donuts.

We are still trying to break the record for the most comments on a WordPress blog, but in the midst of the insanity and the weirdness, a friend of mine and I wrote a few poems there, and I thought I would share them with you…

This is just an example of the kind of things that are going on in the free-range, consciousness-streaming, thought-provoking, madhouse of comments that is our attempt to break the world’s record for most comments on a single post… so far, we are up to 7,854 comments, and you still have a chance to get in on the action.

WordPress still hasn’t given us an exact number that we need to beat, but a friend did find a post that has 12,083 comments. So we still have a little ways to go.

If you want to take part in this historic event, ***PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR COMMENTS ON THIS POSTS***

Okay, here are the poems I promised you. I wrote them with Hastywords over at: http://hastywords.wordpress.com/ and she is one awesome poet. You should check out her work. She does duet poems with lots of bloggers too.

She called this one: Ice Castles

Fire seers the world around me

Yet my frozen heart denies the flames

And every fiber of being inside me

Yearns to feel the heat, the fervor

In which desire and passion claims

I once joined in the fiery dance of love

Before withdrawing behind sheets of ice

Those were the days when I was young

Before my heart had known anguish

The days when warming flames felt nice

My heart was broken more than once

And I resurrected a castle for myself

One with fireproof walls that I believed

Would keep me from yearning, burning

All my desire sitting upon an icy shelf

Now I stand upon the frosted battlements

I watch the forces of love and lust below

As the battle rages back and forth

Neither side winning or losing much

Fighting over the same old ground, to and fro

As emotionless as I may seem to some

I must say I fear no more inequities

Trespassing upon my iced- up porch

Quiet contentment satisfies me

Detached from all the passionate extremes

And yet now and then I wonder

Was my solitude worth the price?

The long vigil has kept me safe

No warmth has pierced my isolation

But pain, there is aplenty

So maybe someday, perhaps

I will venture to feel what I have missed

But for now I will reserve my strength

Until once again I am strong enough

To feel weakness from one single kiss

—————————

Here is a rather nice bit of poetry called: A Life Mapped…

♦

Lines etch every corner

They are the road map of my life

Scratching stories into valleys

Eroded by rivers of tears

A timeline of every passing year

Crisscrossing deep reminders

Of anguish and silly laughter

Echoing inside underground canyons

Repelling around bottomless ravines

Tripping over endless seams

Reverberating off towering walls

Flowing from past to future

A timeless flow begun as a trickle

Becoming thunderous waterfalls

Leading to an unknown sea.

A treasure map full of dreams

Of chutes and ladders

Of caves full of monsters unseen

Just waiting for future kin

To relive during their nightly read

The map is torn from my grasp

The rapids rage and howl

The rudder is shorn away

Whirlpools and white water lie in wait

Plenty of adventure is in store

Little eyes widen at dragons galore

And when x marks the spot

Inside the dark nights wooden floor

Giddy excitement escapes

As I become the heroine once more

 ————————————

And we did a silly one too.

It doesn’t have a name, I guess. We were just bouncing thought back and forth.

You feel up for more

Or have I worn you out?

Can you feel your breath shallow

Or is it heavy and stout?

Do you think anyone cares

What we think about?

Or do you think they are waiting

For us to shout?

I think that a few of them actually care

They watch us as our souls we bare

When we take on the world’s dare

And write a poem as a pair

With style and excessive flair

We dance with words beyond compare

We squint into the rising glare

As all my minions throughout the lair

Rise from their toils of quiet despair

And watch as from our hearts we tear

A tale to lead them they know not where

You may be right, you usually are

It is what makes you a blogging star

Your minions come from near and far

Just to get a small taste of who you are

As for me, I am not so sure

My blogging seems like such a blur

I use pictures I create as a lure

But once one visits, they pray for a cure

However different we are though

No matter how high or how low

We seem to seriously bestow

Our lives into a community that grows

As long as we are having fun

And shining brighter than the sun

This is a game that’s never done

A blogger’s work is never done

All that we can really do

Is to ourselves always be true

Whether people cheer or boo

I will try to think of something new

And keep on shooting for the stars

It’s cheaper than hanging around in bars.

Hmmmm I might like hanging in bars

Or camp town racing in cars

But that is neither here nor there

I think I understand your flare

It is something few of us dare

It is called being completely bare

And not minding how many swear

Wouldn’t it be ironic, dear Mr Art

If this poem here, was only the very start

Of a much longer poem, a small little part

Of the most gigantic poem written inside

The longest comment section world-wide

Maybe you could even dare to dream

To have the biggest blogging team

With the coolest and talked about theme

I’m just trying to bump my stats

And drive you all a little bats

I know this isn’t my best idea

More like typing verbal diarrhea…

Well bumping your stats is ok I guess

But there are a few things I must confess

I happen to think you are already a success

I know you know I tend to be a bit of a mess

And on stats I never had time to obsess

But if I did it would only lead to stress

But for all my following readers I am blessed

Did you know, because I just saw

I lack 200 to reach 10,000 ya all?

————————-

Try to figure out which part of each poem I wrote, and which parts she wrote.

But don’t discuss it here… come down and help us break the record!
