Which sounds a lot cooler than ‘Komodo really big lizards’…

I like it… simple and elegant.

Olivia and I loved the penguins at the zoo.

This little guy would follow your finger back and forth.

Get a room!

And I met a very nice goat in the little petting corral.

She liked to have her chin scratched.

She was really sort of sweet.

All in all, we had a pretty awesome day.

I think I am going to start incorporating more of my own photos and funny Photoshop stuff in this series… but remember, I am still looking for suggestions of stuff that would look cool reflected in the water.

I really do apologize for all the pictures of animals I have been doing lately.

The thing is… (and I really love this thing)… that I babysit Olivia, the daughter of some friends of ours, two or three times a week.

And I have to keep her occupied, because she is wicked smart… and lots of fun to hang around with.

And she loves animals, as do I…

And San Diego has a world-class zoo not too far from where I live…

And I have a zoo pass, so I get in free… I mean, the pass wasn’t free, but the more I use it, the better the bargain.

And I also have a camera with a pretty good zoom lens.

So, as long as I am there, I might as well take some pictures, right?

And as long as I took the pictures…

I might as well post them here, wouldn’t you agree?

I might get a little carried away.

I tend to do that.

So now, I thought I would mix it up by doing more photos in one post, rather than three or four posts… about the birds, I mean.

That way, we can get through this faster.

And get back to the other weird stuff I do around here.

But I do like birds.

They are always moving, and it is a challenge to get good photos.

And I like all the colors, too.

So, thanks for bearing with me.

And the little squishy-face thanks you, too.

And they have to touch every flower they see…

Or even a big stump…

And you realize that they are communing with nature on some deep, primal level…

And you know that somehow, they are instinctively aware of the fact that they are part of nature…

And yet, some kids will grow up to be oil company executives or climate change deniers… which is why I love kids… but am not so sure about most adults… sigh.

Okay, I wasn’t going to do any more flower reflection pictures… but then I found these guys… and they are just so… uh… anatomically correct… or incorrect… or at least politically incorrect… or something.

And maybe the daddy gorilla will be awake today.

But look how cute he is napping. I asked Olivia if she was having fun while we were at the zoo. This was her answer…

A big thumbs up… with attitude… That is so awesome, I had to do this…

Okay, that might be the last flower one…
