Yup… the one I have had since I was 14-years old… when I first realized that, A: I could grow a mustache, and B: that my mouth naturally forms into a quirky, smug little smile that makes me look like I know stuff that the rest of you don’t… which I do, but I don’t want to be so obvious about it. Also, I can’t live under the false notion that people get that I am happy all the time. That is way too much pressure.
The thing is… and this isn’t a good thing… but I go to this place to get my hair cut by a bunch of cute Asian girls. No, it isn’t sexist, they are cheap and usually pretty good. But sometimes, there are translation issues. This time, I let the girl trim my mustache. It was a catastrophe. It ended up way above my lip. I looked like a 1940’s film star… and not in a good way. (I wonder if I can get the video my wife took on her phone into the blog?)
To top it off, I just found out that my older daughter… yes, the one that is getting married in less than two months, likes my mustache. So I have to have it back before the wedding… so I don’t look all smug and smirky.
If you are wondering why there is still a small amount of residual mustache, it is because I didn’t shave this morning before going to get my hair cut, so I had to use my trimmer to shave off the mustache and goatee to the same length as the hair on the rest of my face. Yes, I could have just shaved all of my face, but where is the fun in that?
