Yes, once again I am running the risk of calling down upon my crack squirrel-stuffed cranium the wrath of the WordPress Overlords, by fomenting revolution against their new, unwanted changes.
How many times have I had to do this? I can’t even remember.
I have taken it upon myself to create a new corporate logo for the good people at WordPress…
I am not trying to be mean-spirited, but these changes are horrible… especially if you are a computer moron like me. I just wish that WordPress would spend more time pressing words and less time pressing their hands over their ears. Many of us are feeling very ignored. We know you pay people, and they have to justify their salaries by doing some kind of work… but are these changes only aimed at the high-end users who pay for expensive themes? I mean, to be brutally honest, it wasn’t like your ‘dashboard’… which is now called something else, or so I hear… was all that user-friendly to begin with. It is not intuitive to put new widgets with links in your sidebar. I had to have friends help me with that.
I don’t mean to sound whiny and spoiled, because I really do love blogging here, and for the most part, I love what you do… but the other reason I chose monkeys for your new logo is because we need to remember that evolution means changing for the better… not just changing for the sake of changing.
Anyway, thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I am giving a few people a forum in which to express their anger… which just might distract them enough so that they do not show up at your corporate castle carrying torches and pitchforks.

It’s just annoying when you have to rediscover how to start writing a new post, they keep changing the methods.
They should just email when they make a change saying how great it is and should be of benefit.
Supposedly there are posts they do about the changes, but I never see them.
I don’t know if other users like the proposed changes or not. I hope WP leaves things as they are. I recently screwed up my blog going for a more functional layout. I moved to a self-hosted site and realized I was too tech-challenged to handle behind-the-scenes. I came back to WP – where they are kind to tech-bananas. This banana needs easy-to-use. So I hope monkeys like bananas 🙂

Thanks… even this place is too tech savvy for me. I need a lot of help from my blog friends to do some stuff. I was recently offered a free theme someone won in a contest, but I am too afraid to redo all my widgets and stuff.
I had my tech repair guy help me set up my new WP site. He had used WP to create his business site. He even said WP isn’t as easy as it appears on the surface. The 2 of us managed to put one blog together.
I need so much help with the widgets and other things.
I kinda slide ’em in there with one eye open when I want to experiment – then hope for the best.
I tried that before I got help.
I think I’ll forever make blog changes with one eye open. But, my tech guy – is just a phone call away and can hear me crying 😉
Here’s to moving forward (and hoping WP stops its senseless surface shifting)
AnnMarie 🙂
Indeed… and thanks.
If you think this site is reason to pout and whine, I can recommend a worse one for ya. But, they only make worse changes once a year. This place has made flips and flops at least 3 times this year alone. Probably five times. And, for me, they’re not the worst changes. I have found my way around okay. But, I see these lil explanations of “improvements” and don’t quite grasp what’s “better.” I, for one, was seriously concerned my account had been hacked when I got “beep boop beep” on the screen every time I wanted to start a post.
I know it isn’t the end of the world. Even I end up figuring my way through it sooner or later. I just like to give people a place to vent their frustration.
Understood. I set up a “Chat Cafe” for that just in case such venting felt “violating” to a post or people had something to discuss that they “feared” was said too often in public posts. I’ve been down this road before.
We all have, but they never learn
I guess I really haven’t cared one way or another about the changes. I invested in the “whole package” when I signed on so I can use the premium themes. I bought it because I hoped it would make it simpler for me to use. I don’t think it worked. Maybe it’s my lack of time to work on it but it seems harder than any other site I use including the company site I manage.
I know exactly what you mean… more or less… sort of
LOL! Give them a piece of your mind. I would, but there’s not much of my mind left.
yeah… like I have some to spare
