We went back to that restaurant by the bay, the one I took my wife to on one of our romantic dates. This time we brought our younger daughter, Mollie, and our dog, Shiloh.
I like that place. Not only is the food good, but there is so much to look at while you eat if you get an outside table.
It is called the Barefoot Bar and Grill, and it is right on Mission Bay, if you are coming to San Diego and want to give it a try.
There is a reason that so many birds are attracted to this spot, but I will get to that in the next post.
You might have noticed that these are all sharp-billed fish-hunting birds. And they come here for very good reason. But the thing is… you know how I love my thing… wait, that sounded wrong, but you know what I mean… when you are watching nature, sometimes nature is watching you right back.

Ohhhh, watch that last guy, he has the evil eye on you Art. I don’t know about San Diego, but on the east coast of Canada, it is not possible to eat outside (in an area where there is regularly food) by the ocean – the seagulls will attack. They are such pests and mooches. They get brazen enough to take food right off your plate if you are not watching . And even if your are watching, they get so close and so demanding that it is a chore to defend your food. The easy answer is that we build dining rooms etc that are closed in by windows. You can stop somewhere and have a picnic without any problem but an outdoor restaurant is a problem.
We have seagulls too. They get like that in some places.
