This is a post for my head minion, Trent… and all the other people who live where it is still snowing…

If you live in a place where it quite often snows

And there are little ice flakes in the cold wind that blows

It might be cruel of me to mention, I suppose

That here, we have blossoms on everything that grows

I hope that you survive until winter’s close

I trust that your poor little tootsies never froze

That you stayed bundled up in some warm winter clothes

And that Jack Frost didn’t nip off the tip of your nose

I really do not wish to add to your woes

But here is the dirty secret I have to expose

Remember, when experiencing the lowest of winter lows

That you live in a place that you yourself chose

Now here is a picture of a very nice rose…

Those are my Cecile Brunner roses… I remember when they were just babies in a small pot… now they cover a large portion of our side fence. These first few pictures are all from my own yard.

My bougainvillea are blooming… those are flowers that originally come from a tropic island, I believe.

Awww… cute little daisies.

I have no idea what those flowers are called, but I do love the color purple.

These pictures are for my good friend, Trent

Whose get up and go sort of got up and went… (to Canada)

As a minion he is heaven-sent

You should check out his writing, he is really quite bent

And so smart that I don’t always know what he meant…

These pictures are from the garden of my wife’s aunt and uncle. We went up there for lunch the other day. They are the ones who have the dog that is best friends with out dog.

That one has colors that I don’t even know the name of… sort of a red/pink/purple.

———-

If I am not mistaken, Trent’s last name is ‘Lewin’

Which I pronounce, in my head, to rhyme with ‘screwin’

Trent, I hope you give these pictures a really nice viewin’

Wintering in San Diego is what you should be doin’

These last two are from my next-door neighbor’s front yard.

I just threw them in to drive the poinsettia home… get it?

Hey! Remember that grass I was telling you about yesterday? Oh, I didn’t tell you about it? Well, the day you posted this, we were above 50 degrees! You could see grass all over the place, except where the big snow piles were, you know, like from all the plowing and shoveling… I even saw some brave little spring flowers attempting to peek out of the ground! Anyway, the predicted storm came thru while I was sleeping. Yeah, at least 5″ of snow again. It is so pretty! nice and white again, and the trees look amazing!

Well, pooh on you! California is going to break off & fall into the Pacific Ocean one of these days & then we’ll see who is laughing!

Dude, that was awesome. I felt warm for the first time in like months. And it’s not just the wine speaking. Great poetry – this I’m going to share with my oldest, he will think it’s funny (and not understand the saucy bits). Anyway, I’m touched, sincerely, you just gave the gift of good poetry and sunny weather. I’ll make it down to SD sooner or later… and then we’ll make a party out of it.

    You’re a good man, dude.

  7. Blooming full load of smiles! (Day by day more winter clothes get put away – yea!)

83 in Oxnard yesterday. Gross. Where is my winter? Maybe I should move to Canada….

  9. And you can’t grow tulips. So there.

And here I was celebrating our recent spike to six below freezing.

  11. It is so nice of you to think of all of us chilly Canadians. I know that it was intended for Trent but as one of his minions I figure it is like second cousins twice removed. We have sunshine here today. That may be all the spring we get so I will look at your flowers and hope.

OMG!! IT WORKED!! WE ARE IN THE 50’S TODAY!!!! There is a certain appreciation that you might not understand. Some really pretty flowers I must say!
