These are just about the last pictures taken that day my younger daughter and I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park… there I am, looking very manly indeed, in my… as I like to think of it: ‘war correspondent/photojournalist vest’.

Look at those smug, evil faces… so sure of their religious righteousness… so sure that their god fully supports all the small-minded prejudices that drive them so crazy with hate. Make me almost wish I did believe in their religion… just so I could see those same faces when Jesus meets them at the pearly gates and tells them to go somewhere else.

Animals you don’t expect to see walking around on a leash…

So there Mollie and I were, at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, having fed the lorikeets and brushed some goats, and we came around a corner and ended up face to face with a cheetah… a 2

Two zookeepers were walking it around. They were also telling everyone not to get too close… or move too fast…

For some reason, having this dog around helps keep the cheetah calm.

So that was kind of cool.

On the way out of the park, another trainer was giving a lecture on monitor lizards.

He obviously didn’t write that speech himself… have you seen his mad writing skillz on Twitter? All the guy did was spend a few minutes pretending to not be a racist moron. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I got to babysit my little buddy, Olivia, yesterday. As usual, she was not thrilled when I stopped reading to her to take a picture for the blog.

I missed this kid so much. I haven’t seen her since we did those zoo adventures we shared with you. I have recently found myself wandering around the house making funny sounds, and remembering how she likes to laugh at my funny sounds, and then getting depressed about missing her… my family was getting annoyed… but I miss having little kids around.

And Olivia is one sweet little kid.

There is nothing better than hanging out with little kids.

She is really starting to talk now. She learned a lot of words in the few weeks since I saw her last.

And of course we went on some walks.

When I went ahead of her and crouched down to take another picture, she stopped and crouched down too… she has a sense of humor.
