Celebrity spotting at Comic Con… part 1…

a 1

Yes, I know that isn’t a real celebrity. But I actually saw Andy Serkis, the guy who played Gollum… and is in the new Planet Of The Apes movies. He walked five feet in front of me. I didn’t even have time to get a photo.

a 2

He heard about this model of Gollum that some artist did, and came over to see it.

a 3

Don’t worry, I have real photos from now on.

Comic Con… the very last post… before I start bragging about all the famous people I saw…

a 1

Let’s do this… before my blog breaks again… that up there still cracks me up.

a 2

Barbarians always have a hard time getting past security… just ask Conan the Barbarian.

a 3

This is blatant discrimination!

a 4

Yay! They made it in! Don’t let the man keep you down!

a 5

This lady was very nice… and so was the dog.

a 6

And you have to admit, the dog is a nice touch.

a 7

This guy spent more than half the day in that chair at the cinematic makeup school.

a 8

But it did end up being pretty awesome.

a 9

And you don’t get that from just wearing a mask.

a 10

I asked these guys to pose like that… and I have to say, it brought back some weird memories… which I am not going to talk about here on my family-friendly blog… but I will say this. It doesn’t matter what size the barrel of a real gun pointed at your face is… you would swear you could drive a truck right down it like a tunnel.

This is a test of the emergency blogging system… if this is an actual emergency… and my blog is broken, and I can’t do posts anymore… only the title of posts… I am going to totally freak out…

z 55

Did it work? Did it post? Can you see the picture of me?

Well, my blog seems to be broken… so… yeah…

Comic Con… how to train your dragon…

a 1

No, that isn’t someone in a costume, that is a life-sized dragon… that you could sit on and have your picture taken…

a 2

And then this guy climbed on, while I was taking pictures of the dragon…

a 3

And I have to say, he had fun with it.

a 4

Oh yeah, I have another picture of these guys and gals… for the next post… which will be the last post before the posts where I saw famous people!

a 5

I asked some people to pose for me.

a 7

But I’m sort of shy.

a 8

So sometimes, I just took pictures of people while they were posing for other people.

a 9

But it all worked out.

a 10

And I had a great time.

a 11

And met some really interesting people.

a 12

Okay, that isn’t a person in a costume… but still… baby Groot!

a 15

And I think this is the McJustice League… or something like that.

Comic Con… awwwwwwwwwwwwwww…

a 1

That was by far the cutest person I saw in a costume that day.

a 2

It was a family affair… sort of… I mean, mom seemed to be opting out of the whole costume thing…

a 3

But I met a cute baby, so, whatever.

a 4

This was one of the more awesome costumes I saw.

a 5

That robot was totally walking all on its own… with just a little help from a tech support guy.

a 6

And the Oscar for best use of swim fins in a robot scene goes to…

a 7

But seriously… cool…

a 8

I call that one: Thinking about upgrading our helmets.

a 9

Gratuitous Wookie selfie!

a 10

Ummm… I don’t know if a pretty dress and some rubber ears even classifies as a costume… but what the heck.

a 11

No… she wasn’t actually wearing those wings. They were attached to the wall. A photo op spot. But she was standing there… so… what the heck, right?

a 12

If that robot had started to move, that guy would have pooped his pants. Okay, we really are getting to the end of this Comic Con thing. One or two more posts about the people, and then, a few posts of the famous people I saw, and how you can see famous people if you ever go to this thing.

Alexander Hamilton… my name is Alexander Hamilton…

a 1

Well no, my name isn’t Alexander Hamilton. It’s a line from one of the songs of the play. I know I have been talking about the play for a while, and now it all comes down to this… one post… well, except for that one photo I posted last night.

a 1 a

A lot of the hype is due to the fact that I went to Comic Con in San Diego exactly one week before I went to see Hamilton in San Francisco. You have no idea how hard it is to get tickets for either one of these events. I don’t have tons of photos from yesterday. I took these with my cell phone. This was like a big event, and I was focusing on that.

a 2 a

We walked by this dragon.. which looks sort of like a pig to me… in front of the Asian Art Gallery.

a 2

Which is located very near the City Hall building, which is supposed to be one of the more beautiful city hall buildings, if you are into comparing the beauty of city hall buildings.

a 3

If you don’t know anything about Hamilton, it is fairly controversial.

a 4

Not only do they have African American and Latino American actors playing the founding fathers… you can see how maybe a black George Washington might upset some kinds of pea-brained people… but it is a musical… which features rap music. In fact, there isn’t any actual dialogue in the play. It is all rap music. And it is so cleverly written and well-performed, that it will blow your mind.

a 5

Mollie and her boyfriend have been listening to the sound track for quite a while now. They can sing along with all the lyrics to the whole play. This is why this is so brilliant. Most kids don’t care about history. But if you put it to rap music…

a 6

The Orpheum Theater is very nice.

a 7

The inside is stunning.

a 8

It’s got a crazy ceiling.

a 9

Anyway, a bunch of friends and family got together, and we saw a play. We ate food. We walked around San Francisco.

a 11

And it was a pretty awesome day,, but the rest, I am keeping for myself.

Hamilton was awesome!!!

a 1 a

But I am really tired… and a little drunk… so I will share that adventure tomorrow.

Yes, it’s another post of random photos of Comic Con… Yay!

a 1

Ummmm…???

a 2

Okay, now it makes sense.

a 3

He had to have a volunteer walking ahead of him. That is a cool costume.

a 4

Stream-punk coffin backpack… with umbrella… and candles?

a 5

I didn’t buy a single souvenir… not even a T-shirt or hat… let alone a cool coat.

a 6

I didn’t but a single work of art, either… or a comic book.

a 7

I wish I could have bought the life-sized X-wing.

a 8

That would look pretty awesome hanging in my living room.

a 9

I know, we have already seen Taco Belle, but he was having so much fun, it just makes me smile.

a 10

Okay, gotta get ready to drive over to San Francisco and see Hamilton!
