As I said, we had a lovely bite to eat in a place overlooking the Santa Cruz harbor. My cousin Mallorie, Clark’s mom, did not offer to clean me up, even though I am at least as messy an eater as he will ever be!
This, to me, is another blatant example of how babies are treated better than everybody else and it really steams my clams! (That is a nautical expression meaning; ‘not cool man’)…
Just look at him, laughing away while his every need is attended to, that smug little varmint… HA!
But seriously, I mentioned before that as we ate, we noticed something you rarely see in the wild… a seal and a sea lion swimming together. I have that one picture of both of them together that I put in the earlier post, but when we went down for a closer look after we finished eating, the seal was staying under water and I couldn’t get a close up of him. The sea lion was not so shy…
Needless to say, little Clark thought my inability to get the picture I wanted was uproariously amusing… whatever man…
I went down onto the dock and got… well… let’s just say ‘way too close to a sea lion for the sake of safety of common sense’, shall we?
These are not taken with the big zoom lens. Seriously… I was like standing inches from this guy… he could have jumped up and ate my face…
Sea lions look cute and friendly… they are not… do not try this at home, kids. I only did it because I am really big… and fast… with cat-like ninja reflexes… and because all animals love me… and because I always risk my life to bring you entertaining pictures and stories on my blog.
A nice lady told us that the sea lion and the seal were hanging out there because that is where the crab boats dump the broken off legs and dead crabs from their pots, so there was enough food to keep them both happy. See, even seals usually give sea lions a wide berth… with is a nautical term meaning; ‘stay away from sea lions!’

He doesn’t look like he wants to eat your face. He’s adorable. We save taking care of babies for babies because if we didn’t we would all just be waiting for someone to take care of us. There wouldn’t be any care givers if we were all care needers.
