Some plant photos, just to clear them off my phone…

The banana flowers are blooming again.

I doubt they are actually called banana flowers, but they sure look like tiny bananas.

And I spotted this weed that looks like a fractal.

I don’t know what kind of weed it is.

So I am just calling it the super pointy fractal weed.

I have been so busy talking about stuff I got for Christmas that I forgot to talk about the stuff I got for my birthday… the final chapter… the Spark amp…

Oh yeah… I got a Spark amp. If you don’t know what that is, you should Google it.

There should be some more music on the way before long.

I have been so busy talking about stuff I got for Christmas that I forgot to talk about the stuff I got for my birthday… part 2… the masks…

I know, these days you don’t think of that kind of mask, but don’t worry, I got some pandemic-themed ones too…

Yup.

I told you.

I love the angry chimpanzee one!

But not as much as that one.

I have been so busy talking about stuff I got for Christmas that I forgot to talk about the stuff I got for my birthday… part 1… the crystal balls…

It turns out that this is a thing now. You take photos through crystal balls, and get a weird fish-eye effect.

I didn’t even know about this as a thing.

But I got a set for my birthday. They come in handy little protective cases. There are too of them, of two sizes. There is a cleaning cloth and a little clear crystal stand.

I Googled it, and people mostly use them for sky and beach pictures.

So far I have just played around with the big one in my backyard.

Not all the pictures are great, but I will figure out some cool stuff to do with them.

I did learn that if you aren’t careful, you can focus light on your own hand and burn yourself like a kid roasting a bug with a magnifying glass. But I moved before it got that bad.

I am just beginning to see the possibilities.

Droning on; version 2.0… part 2…

The first flight of my second drone. Notice that I am controlling the flight and the camera on my own, with just a little advice from my daughter’s boyfriend. Notice how stable the camera is, how good the quality of the video. This is a whole new world of flying.

Best Christmas present ever.

Digital art?… part 9…

Droning on; version 2.0… part 1…

This is my new drone. The first one was fun, but the video and photos went to my phone, and were not really great quality. This one has a video card inside it. The range is better, the stability is better.

I can understand why my family wanted to make sure I was actually going to use a drone before getting me this one.

This is how happy I looked the first time I flew the new drone. Even my younger daughter’s boyfriend looked happy as he gave me tech support. Thanks Ben.

We took it up to Kensington Hilltop school. The photos come out so good. You can see San Francisco Bay in the background.

You can even see San Francisco.

Mollie’s boyfriend, Ben, did some fly-bys so I could shoot some pictures of the drone.

That was a real highlight of this last Christmas, which was awesome, even with the quarantining and all the rest.

Stand by for more videos.

Droning on… the final chapter… sort of…

Okay, this is it, the last of the videos from my first, and not very good, drone. But it is a nice aerial shot of the street where I grew up in the Bay Area, where I played hide-and-seek, and learned to ride a bike.

Like I said, this is all leading to something…

Opinions are not the same thing as facts… (or); Some things are true, and some things aren’t… a guide to some common misconceptions… the final chapter…

That is a photo I took at Dachau. I have been to Dachau twice. I removed the color from all of the photograph except for the flowers. I wanted the simple remembrance, the tribute of the flowers, to stand out more than the ovens used to burn the bodies of the victims of Nazi tyranny.

Of all the opinions masquerading as facts, holocaust denial is the most insidious, the most evil, and the most bewildering. The historic evidence of the reality of Nazi atrocities is overwhelming. There are thousands of survivors, thousands of allied soldier who liberated the camps and witnessed the cruelty first hand.

There are records. There is testimony at trials. There are all those millions of missing people to account for.

And what does denying this reality gain anyone? If you are a racist or pro-Nazi, you should be proud of what they did. And if you are not either of those things, what do you gain from saying it never happened, or it wasn’t as bad as it is made out to be?

Please, explain to me what denying this accomplishes. I really want to know.

I finish with a map of all the camps spread across central Europe, that did exist, and were at least as bad as they are said to have been. Those are facts. Not opinions.

Droning on… part 11… the mosquito variant…

Well, as long as I am showing you the drone videos from my first drone, I might as well have fun with the audio, right?
