WordPress, of all the changes you have made that we never asked for or wanted in the first place…

…I have to say that the ability for us to hit a button to tell people that we ‘like’ a comment is the silliest. It isn’t really a bad thing. It is just silly… and a little annoying… I mean, I like the idea that if someone likes a comment, they can comment back. Sometimes people like my comment and then reply to it also. This seems redundant and inefficient. To be honest, I don’t really see the need for the like button on posts either for pretty much the same reasons. In real life, if someone keeps talking to me… as in listening to what I have to say and then replying with their own thoughts, I just work on the assumption that they like me and what I have to say. If they do not respond and walk away, I assume they do not. This system has worked pretty well so far.

There are times when I don’t “Like” a post because I don’t like the content, but I may still comment. There are times when I “Like” a post just to let the author (Arthur) know I stopped by but didn’t really have a comment. There are times when I “Like” a post & comment because I really liked the post!
I like the “Like” ability we now have when someone comments on our blog. I don’t always have a witty repartee but I want to let the commenter know how much I liked their comment!

I don’t know if we have blogging or Facebook to blame. If the ‘like’ came before the ‘comment’ …but you gotta admit we all just want to be ‘liked’ lol 🙂

I think of comment likes as applause: it’s expressing an opinion without actually saying anything.

  5. I can understand this type of view ! Fancy checking my blog out and giving my comment a like haha
