If we didn’t have two parties, we would all settle on the best men in the country and things would run fine. But as it is, we settle on the worst ones and then fight over them…
The short memories of American voters is what keeps our politicians in office…
These two quotes are from Will Rogers, a very funny American whom most of you probably don’t even remember. Unfortunately, these quotes are too true to be funny.

For many of my friends voting is akin to sports fandom in that they follow their “team” not matter who the players are. I, all too often, find myself voting for the lesser of the evils and having worked too closely with too many politicians for too long I often know too much to make voting for any of them very appealing to me.
Politicians should not be allowed to run for office…
I don’t think the party system means anything anymore. It sure doesn’t in Canada. It is a matter of who has the biggest bank roll behind them and from then on it becomes payback time for the lobbyists and the multinationals. Democracy be damned!

Depressing but correct
The more we talk about it the more likely someone will hear us. So keep up the chatter!
Leslie
I spend a lot of time here making fun of politics and politicians.
Good work! Keep it up. We will shame them into Democracy if we have to.
Leslie
We can try
Let them try to stop us!
Leslie
we have right on our side… all they have is… uh… armies and navies and air forces, guns, bombs, planes, ships, the CIA the NSA the FBI, nuclear weapons, billions of dollars, the whole legal system and the courts, and the Dick Cheney cyborg…
Dick Cheney can’t live forever. Armies, navies, CIA, NSA, FBI have a lot of grunts like us. They may very well turn on the mucky mucks. Who knows? Just keep up the chatter and we’ll either bore them to tears or they will see the light.
Leslie
Okey dokey
Not entirely true because Hillary is not a man, so unless some miracle happens in the primaries, we’ll be fighting over her.
There was a time when there were few women in politics…
Will Rogers died in 1935, so I don’t remember him (given that he died 42 years before I appeared on the scene). Still, I do know he was wise and funny. And I have rubbed his foot in Statuary Hall in the US Capitol Building.
I think a HUGE part of the problem is that two states — neither very representative of the US population at large — New Hampshire and Iowa — have way too much say in who goes on to lead the two parties.
don’t get me started on that whole thing
Will Rogers? Half of Americans barely remember George W. Bush.
Or who was prez during Katrina …
That said, I would dearly love to forget Dubya.
and Cheney
Not me. It’s only while I remember Bush I realize that Obama is a pretty good president.
He has done some good stuff, and considering the other side made it their goal to keep him from doing anything…
who???
Right, George Who Bush.
Worst Dr. Seuss book ever
