We took Willie to the San Diego Safari Park… which used to be called the Wild Animal Park…
Willie is not one of my kids. My daughters are 15 and 24. Willie isn’t even 2 yet. If you are new around here, I will fill you in on the details as we go.
That is Eva, Willie’s mom. She is married to Johnny, who has been friends with my wife since they were in high school together. They all came down for the big high school reunion… which I will get to sooner or later… but I am sort of doing this whole thing in reverse order… because I am weird like that.
You can tell that Willie had his eyes open, staying alert to see all the animals. Yes, I know I told you we were taking him to the ‘world famous San Diego zoo’… (you have to say ‘world famous’ before you say ‘San Diego zoo’, it is a law in San Diego)… but we changed our mind for various reasons. The safari park is a part of the zoo even though they are miles apart, and is famous for its breeding programs with endangered species.
After much walking, we rode the little tram, and Willie thought that was pretty cool.
And everybody know that rhinos are so awesome that even the gazelles stop to look at them. See, you can see one looking at them over there on the right. I don’t make this stuff up.
Willie thought the rhinos were funny.
We saw a cheetah.
Willie didn’t think a cheetah could catch him.
And then we saw the cow with the crazy horns.
And Willie just couldn’t understand how that cow could walk around with those things on top of his head all day.

The antelope can stand there & look at the rhinos because rhinos are so near-sighted the rhinos probably didn’t even know the gazelle/antelope was there.
if they did they would charge them
Yay! You got photos of unicorns
I do???
Yeah, only they are grey and fat and most people call them Rhinos
people are crazy
They are. Everyone can see they are unicorns
Not everyone can see that.
I could look at pictures of Willie all day long.
I have done funny Photoshop stuff… he has his own word in the word cloud in my sidebar.
I loved that place when I was a kid. I wanted to go more often, but we lived closer to Marine World which is apparently Six Flags Discovery Kingdom now.
They keep changing the names of things… very confusing…
The world according to Willie. Cool perspective Art. It sure looks like Willie had a fine time. I find it heart- warming that you’ve taken to Willie and are showing him around his world. Your connection to him is not one which would normally engender such a friendship. You are special Art caring about that young man the way you do.
I am a kid person… and a big kid… I miss having little ones around, so I expect all of our friends to loan me theirs.
