Ahhh… I am starting to feel better already…
Yes, that really is a flower. It is called the silver sword, and it really does reflect a silver light from the petals… or maybe those are the leaves and they also bloom… I am not quite sure about that…
I do know that they only grow on the very top of the volcano on Maui… and that the pictures do not really capture the silver reflections…
But they are interesting to look at.
And here are a few more random pictures of flowers…
In fact, I think I will spend the next few days doing pictures of the flowers of Maui… because it is hot, dry and windy… and smoky… here in San Diego, and this is good for me…
And maybe it will be good for you too.

These are a lovely distraction. Don’t you think the silver sword would make a cool hat. I can picture a model walking down the catwalk, sometime in the 50s, sporting that hat atop her head.
I would like a hat like that
Me too. Especially if it reflects like silver.
And pokes people that try to pat you on the head…
Wondered how you were doing with the fires. So pretty there (I can hear people saying “it always burns there, why to they allow people to build in dangerous areas?” Every area has its’ own dangers.)
Stay safe.
We will be fine, but people who didn’t leave cleared areas are screwed.
Preventive actions are good for so many things.
like farting in the shower?
shower curtain or enclosed glass unit? Air flow is critical
Airflow is the key… I suggest a walk-in… those around-the-corner kind…
I bet it’s nice to see some nice bright, pretty colors instead of just smoke!
the memories are nice.
Awesome photies. I like the puffball. Reminds me of a coral from underwater.
photies?
Yeah, ye know. Der fing dat comes out of da camra
roight… bloody well rogiht
Love that silver sword. But I’m guessing it wouldn’t like a yard in Denver.
Stay safe from those fires.
I will… actually, they might like Denver…
sssiiiiiggggghhhhhhhhh… So pretty, too bad it isn’t smellovision. I like those silver swords, the last one got some bent ones, I wonder if they are edible….
I am guessing you should not make a salad just yet…
But I bet the local chickens will taste especially good in a couple of days…
(Oh, and nice flowers.)
The chickens get tough and chewy from running around to escape the flames…
