Inner View… #1

Welcome to a new series called Inner View, where we get to know other bloggers.

Today’s Inner View interview is with Arthur from Pouring My Art Out.

——————————

Question: It is said that you are an artist. Would you consider yourself to be a successful one?

No. If you add up every painting, custom T-shirt, carving, tiki, and the books I have sold, I bet it adds up to less than 300 dollars. If I do art that I love, I want to keep it because selling it would be like selling one of my kids. And if I do something that sucks, I would be embarrassed to sell it. And I end up giving some stuff away to people.

Question: So you do art because you love it?

No. It is more like stuff inside me that I need to get out. It isn’t always fun getting it out. It is like giving birth without pain meds. Like giving yourself an exorcism.

Question: Do you consider yourself to be a happy person.

Now and then. I am a little manic. I am either all on or all off. And I tend to be a bit moody.

Question: Do you think we could lighten this up a little? This is supposed to be funny.

Hey, you are asking the questions. Don’t ask them if you don’t want the answers. And by the way, I love what you have done with the place. Who does your decorating, a bunch of crack squirrels?

Question: I thought you said I was supposed to be the one asking the questions.

Was that a question? I didn’t sound like a question. It sounded like a statement, and not a particularly funny one.

Question: Are you always so hard to deal with?

No. I am usually much worse. You caught me on a good day.

Question: Do you ever take anything seriously?

Hey, I do a comedy blog. If I took stuff seriously, people would still think I was joking. I mean, I have done posts where I asked people to think about stuff. The comments always end up spiraling into the twilight zone.

Question: So you think your followers are immature?

Hey, don’t you put words in my mouth. If there is anyone around here who is immature, it is me.

Question: Are you proud of what you do here?

In all honesty, I am. I think I do something unique. I fill a gap in the blog world. I do new stuff but I mix in ongoing things that people like. And I am sharing my whole life here, my art, my music, my stories, my heart. I lay it out there.

Question: Is the person we see on your blog the real you?

This is the real me. I mean, I have sort of a personality I use on the blog. I have a voice I speak with… type with… but it is all me. If you read my whole blog you will know me better than anyone in my family. I don’t know if that is sad or not, but it’s true.

Question: Where do you see yourself in ten years.

I am hoping my books will be made into movies. I think they would work. The sci-fi books are four years of my life. They are funny but full of adventure. I wrote them to the pace of a good movie. And I got the kid’s book, I might do more of those, and the murder mystery. I just want to make enough money to keep writing and not go back to another sucky job. Is that too much to ask?

Question: Can I give you a hug? I think you could use a hug.

Okay… I guess… that seems a little weird. Are you going to do that to everybody you interview?

Question: Can you be quiet and just hold me?

If my wife comes in, this might be a little awkward…

OK, I like this already, I think. But I’m pouting because you sent Zoe some artwork & I didn’t get any!

Well, that was certainly entertaining. I don’t know which I liked more, the interviewer or the interviewee. The former was a bit pompous and the latter smelled kind of bad. But you’re dang right. This is one of the most unique blogs I know of.

If you would like to interview me, you can get me at kindlysuckit@gmail.com. Or, you know, trentlewin@gmail.com. That’s prounounced Trentle Win. Everyone always gets that wrong. Sigh.

Your posts of late make me laugh out loud…alone in my room. Kind of in a creepy loner way that makes children want to stay away. So, I am now officially one of your minions. Keep pouring your art out 😉

  8. I think you have hit on a great comic idea here…Wish I would have thought of it first…Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well…next time…Cheers…

This reminded me of Oprah Winfrey interviewing Tom Cruise. I have no clue why. It just did. Are you a Scientologist or something? Were you jumping up and down on the couch?
