Dogs are weird…

Many of you do not wish to be bothered with reading my three brilliant posts about brains and how they work and whether or not they are changing as we evolve because there are just so many words and no funny pictures at all. And forcing your brain to think about itself and other brains when it doesn’t want to can be painful for both of you. I can respect that. I can relate to it. My brain absolutely refuses to think about stuff it doesn’t want to think about… and many things that it does want to think about. But I still feel an obligation to entertain you while you are so busy not reading the posts.

So I have some pictures of dogs for you. This will not overheat your brain in any way, shape or form. We were dog-sitting Riley for the last few days. Riley belongs to my wife’s aunt and uncle. And she is our dog’s best dog buddy in the whole world.

Here are Riley and Shiloh just relaxing in the sun…

a 1That’s Riley on the left. Shiloh is on the right.

Now here they are two minutes later…

a 2They are both sweet, nonaggressive dogs. But they gnaw on each other like wild wolf pups. And sometimes, when I look at them playing like this, I can really see the wolves that they are descended from…

a 3Look at those teeth. And they chew on one another’s faces like they are rawhide bones…

a 4And they seem to enjoy the way their faces taste…

a 5yummmm… face…

Just to mix it up a little, they might try a game of tug-of-war…

a 6They are so cute together…

a 7But they like to shake the rope so hard that it looks as if their faces might just fly right off…

a 8They play until they can’t play any more, and then they take a nap…

a 9These naps can end suddenly. If one of them moves, the other thinks it is play time again and it starts all over. But when they are just plain exhausted, they like to snuggle up like little puppies…

a 10And it really is just too adorable…

a 11Oh, and did I mention that our dog likes to sleep on her back?

a 14

Dogs are weird.

Cute…the way they play with each other freaks me.out. it is almost like they want to.maim one another.

  4. Dogs can be nice to have around… when they’re not conspiring against the government or plotting your demise.

  5. Such free spirits and cuties, I love animals, they just are what they are! (=

My Bandit liked to sleep on his back too! In the later stages of his life we allowed him to sleep on the bed with us. He would go to bed with the first of us & take over the whole other side. Then when the other person wanted to come to bed he wouldn’t stir. Not in a mean way, he’d just look at you with his big eyes & plead with you not to disturb him. Once you finally got into the bed, he would take up the whole bottom of the bed by sleeping between us on an angle. But not too far down because he liked to sleep on his back & didn’t want to roll off the bed.

Dogs are weird? Humans are weird! Who said, hey look at those, we should domesticate them and teach them to live in our houses with us, lick our faces, smell our crotches… Isn’t that cute.

  8. I’ve never much cared for ‘dogs’, though I have on occasion fallen in love with ‘a particular dog’. I much prefer cats. Cats deserve noms because they’re cats. The dogs I have come to love deserve noms because I have come to love them as individuals, but cats don’t have to work that hard with me to deserve noms. I like the challenge, I suppose, of earning a cat’s affection every day, while with dogs, you earn it once and, unless you do something to lose it, they’ll still love you forever if you only just pay a little attention to them. Cats must be wooed continually if you expect them to keep liking you. It helps in maintaining a relationship with people, too.

However, as dogs go, your Shiloh looks lovely, and sounds quite adorable! I’m sure Riley is, as well. 😀

My cat sleeps on her back with her legs in the air. Too funny.

Those buddies look like litter mates. Love how they play together! My yellow lab Daisy sleeps on her back with her paws up and her fangs out. Dogs are most definitely weird, which is why I’m a dog person, and presumably why you are one, too.

Vampire dogs. Halloween is coming up… if your blog suddenly becomes silent, we will know your fate… unless Shiloh only eats your face off… you might be able to survive…

  12. I think they are simple…. Maybe it’s just because I am more involved with humans. And compared to them, dogs are ……

  13. Dogs get stats….
    Great dog buddies!
