It’s an American thing…

This might be a boring post if you are living on a farm in the middle of America. I took some photos of our trip to the county fair. The weird Al concert was awesome. But I do love to see the animals….

a 1These two pigs were sleeping snout to snout in two pens. They looked so much alike that it was like looking at one pig sleeping in front of a mirror.

a 2Little snuggly pigs. How cute is that?

a 3Two little goat friends taking a nap.

a 4Okay… that’s just weird…

There is something uniquely American about a county fair. Being a city boy who loves animals, I always enjoy this part of the fair.

a 5Mollie got to pet a little lamb.

a 6And I made friends with a nice cow.

a 7We watched the turkey races. They chased after a little remote-controlled truck full of food.

a 8Then they let the younger turkeys have a go. They are not smart birds. When the truck stopped quickly, some of them ran right on past and then circled back.

a 10But that was sort of fun to watch.

a 11We also watched some pigs racing to see who could get to the Oreo cookie first.

a 12And we saw little Swifty, the swimming piglet. The funny part about the pig show is that if you turned around from where we were sitting, this is the view the pigs have all day…

a 13Pork chop on  a stick. Right in front of the pig races. You gotta love America. And I have to admit that I get it. When I go to Sea World, I like to order a fish sandwich for lunch. We went to an ostrich farm once and fed the ostriches. And then I bought a package of ostrich jerky. I like to tie in my food with what I am doing. It makes the whole experience sort of three-dimensional.

Were you telling these animals your stories? They were all asleep!

Also, turkeys may well be the stupidest creatures to ever live… Chickens are right behind ’em for the most part.

I love the fair! We live on a farm and I still love walking through the barns.Just watch where you step!

We have wild turkeys here on Hippy Hill. They are just the most ridiculous creatures, totally stupid, running all around crashing through the woods looking all prehistoric. We can’t expect much from those teeny tiny heads.

  5. Looks like a fun day, and you’re nuts!

  6. Was the ostrich jerky any good?
