What’s happening now…

There is a lot going on in my head at the moment. I know that sounds unlikely, but it’s true. So if I seem a little more distracted than usual… and I realize it might be hard to tell the difference… that is why.

I am trying to market the book. If you have any suggestions, I would like to hear them. I have been wracking my brain and doing Google searches to come up with ideas along those lines. But I have come to realize that I am never going to become a best-selling author just plugging the book on the blog and Facebook.

On a related note, if you did buy the book and enjoyed it, please put a review on the site where you purchased it. So far I have only gotten a few reviews, and I would really like to hear what you think.

I have been busy compiling my written work, both from the blog and my boxes of old papers, and I am looking for places on the web to put them out there for some exposure. If you have any suggestions about that, please let me know.

I am also wrestling with the idea of buying my domain name and maybe putting some ads on the blog. I feel horrible for even considering it, but I need to start making a little money from all this typing or my wife is going to kick me off the blog and I will soon be asking you if you want fries with that burger.

Tumblr and Stumbleupon would likely be helpful as well as submitting a stand alone chapter to a periodical- for a list of publishers try newpages.com. Check out UCSD and see if they have a university press, check UCSB too, maybe even UCBerkely, Davis and Irvine- check out the presses in the Oregon and Washington university systems. Often small presses have a preference for authors in the region. See what you may be able to find at Iowa Writers Workshop, there may be useful information there. Perhaps, research other books of the same genre to get the publisher and maybe even the editor and send a copy of the book to them, can’t hurt might help.

  2. I have no ideas, but I will definitely write a review. Good luck.

Try to start finding other sites to write for. Not blogs either, real websites. More specifically something related to your interests like a Science Fiction site. There’s no secret to overnight success. Search Craigslist for possible opportunities. Marry someone famous’s daughter.
