Because it’s a sunset… over San Francisco… part 3… (Special ‘the buck stops here’ edition)…

a 1

Yes, I imagine you might be confused by the title of this post… especially if you haven’t bothered to read the first two in this series…

a 2

Fear not, gentle reader! a 3

Enjoy the colors, the majesty of yet another Bay Area sunset, and soon enough, all shall be made clear.

a 4

Don’t worry, we shall not pass the buck, nor shall we buck the system.

a 5

And now, it is high time I paid you that buck I owe you…a 6

For my foreign friends, a buck, apart from being a male deer, is also American slang for a one dollar bill. I know, a long way to go for a poor jest, indeed. But I spotted this fellow from my mom’s deck the other day. He was following closely that doe and her two young offspring.

a 7

I believe that rutting season is upon us, and judging by this young fellow’s red-rimmed eyes and awkward gait, he is about to experience his first. Good luck, young buck!

a 8

Obviously, the deer have nothing to do with the photos I took the other evening down by the bay… of which I have one more post to do. But I like to put 9 photos in each post when I can, and the two of the buck were just waiting to go somewhere.

a 9

And I had a little fun with it, did I not?

Because it’s a sunset… over San Francisco… part 2…

a 1

I suppose words are superfluous in a post like this.

a 2

But I like words…

a 3

So I am going to throw some of them in here… just to space the photos apart… ha!

a 4

I like to think I have a fairly good eye for photography.

a 5

But I guess it isn’t for me to decide that.

a 6

I do like the new digital cameras that let you take a ton of images and get rid of the bad ones. But I can’t bring myself to delete any of these… even though I have a few more posts worth.

a 7

Look at that… the bay is violet. This photo is a lot like the one coming up, except that this one has a young couple on a picnic table in it…

a 8

And that one has a dog in it. Same clouds, same colors, same Golden Gate Bridge… but a completely different picture.

a 9

It just goes to show… something…

Because it’s a sunset… over San Francisco… part 1…

a 1

That is a nice picture of a sunset. Look at the seagull flying by. I know, there is no San Francisco in that picture. We are getting to that.

a 2

See, There is San Francisco. But where is the sunset? Well, I took this photo a little before sunset. My, oh my, but you sure are impatient. That first photo was just a teaser.

a 3

I went down to that dog park beside the bay… you know… like I do… to pet some dogs, because my dog is 500 miles away.

a 4

Also, not only do I like sunsets, but this time  of the day seems like it might be the best for getting that one photo of a dog shaking water off itself, when the drops are all lit up like little diamonds. Last night I learned that short-haired dogs do not spray enough water droplets for this idea of mine to work with them.

a 5

The setting sun is glinting off the city.

a 6

Now we are getting some sunset action. The water looks really good in that shot.

a 7

Oh yeah.

a 8

That one is pretty nice.

a 9

And don’t worry, I have more of these… HA!

Reflecting upon nature… part 10…

imageedit_1_4006588917

I just love these. They are easy to do. I can tell you how to do them. It’s free. And you can do them to any of your own photographs. But there is something about the way that the reflection moves while the rest of the photo stays still that is sort of magic.

Reflecting upon nature… part 8…

Yes, this could be considered a subtle warning against global climate change. But what I like is that, for one brief moment, the reflections of the heads in the water look almost like the faces of two Cheetahs…

Also, I have a special surprise coming in the next post… I did something funny with this image.

Doh! A deer! A female deer!

a 1

I shot these photos from the deck of my mom’s house.

a 2

I love that the small town where I grew up, in the hills just North of Berkeley, is so full of animals.

a 3

So far we have seen the possum, the raccoons, and now, some deer.

a 4

I also saw some wild turkeys, but I didn’t have the camera ready.

a 5

Throw in all the squirrels and birds, and you have quite a menagerie.

a 6

Not everybody likes the deer. They eat peoples’ plants.

a 7

They don’t eat that regular grass and forest debris. They are the yuppie foodie deer.

a 8

I might as well throw in a couple pictures of last night’s sunset.
