Willie and the Dragon… which, I know decided, has to be the name of my next illustrated childrens’ book!!!

I told you there would be dragons in my backwards series of posts about my recent adventure to the Bay Area.

And not just the dragon slide in Fairy Land that eats little kids… stupid dragon slide… at least he poops them out before they start to digest… HA!

Some of you might remember how, when we were in the Bay Area at Christmas, we accidentally bought Willie one gift that he already had… a box full of wooden tools… but not to worry, we got him more than one. But my wife let me go to the (extremely over-priced and slightly-too-upscale Yuppie varmint) toy store to return the tools and get Willie something else.

But I didn’t see Willie again that trip… and to be honest, I fell in love with the dragon and almost kept it… because how cool would that be… and I could use it as a model for the dragon in my new childrens’ book… but whatever… I guess I am glad I gave it to him…

But he freaked out and said he loved it and started thinking up names for it and the first thing he said to me was; “I am going to sleep with it every night, Arfur.”

And he was running around on the grass making his dragon fly, so I guess it’s all good. I should call Eva, his mom, and ask, because they called a few days ago and said he was sleeping with it every night and he came up with some name like Night Flame or Dark Shadow or something totally awesome and drogony… but I think he gives it a new name every day or two…

That right there is the face of a kid trying to think up a cool adventure to go on with his new dragon friend.

And that face right there… well… if you could hear the sound of my heart melting…
