I stopped and walked out on the bridge over the Big Sur river to take these pictures…
Then I continued South up the coast…
And that is when the fog really started closing in…
It didn’t do anything to detract from the natural beauty…
And being a Bay Area born and raised individual, I know my way around fog…
Despite getting up so early and having such a long drive with so many stops to take pictures… not to mention the ones I took without stopping… I was having a blast.
Even the scary parts were fun, and as I said, I risked my life just driving that road in the fog, let alone all the edges of all the cliffs I stood on…
But man, it was all worth it.
Every single second of it…

Even the fog is a little scary, I feel much calmer already just viewing these pics
yay… the story is good too
If you continued South, wouldn’t you have been going “down” the coast? Not “up” the coast??
I love when you do this Arthur!! And I hate it. It makes me want to go there.
I am all about making people jealous… that is why I do pictures of flowers in the middle of winter… HA! And if you stay at sea level, it is not up or down… it is across or over.
My parents took me up to Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn for lunch and OMG!!!! Orgasmic food and views!
oh my
Whew — scary! Gorgeous pics.
thanks… and wheeeeee
Those don’t look too terribly risky, of course if you had the ones taken while sliding downnnnnn the side of the cliff into the rocky waves that would have been risky.
Not with the good camera
hee hee yep
I do have a great story about sliding down a cliff… go to the search bar thing and type in; banana slug
ewwwwww
no… trust me… it is funny… and not like I asked you to type… something else.
Looks even better when foggy.
everything does
Next time you’re in Big Sur you should go to the Esalen Institute. Have you hear of it? They have hot springs overlooking the ocean. It’s hard to find and you need reservations, but it’s really something. Take your wife there for a special occasion – and make it a surprise.
I do know about it… and I drove by it… it is out of our regular price range, I imagine.
Not really – more if you stay there, but for the hot springs it’s only $30 pp. That’s between 1 and 3am – only time open to public – but you have to see the view to believe it.
I believe it
You would know – that’s one of the most beautiful parts of the coast!
It really is
