Sometimes I just have to stop and marvel at the awesome technology that we are all linked together by. So far today I have only had 8 visitors… who looked at 23 posts… but those 8 human beings reside in the United States, Spain, Slovenia, France, England and Turkey.
I guess, if my math is correct, that two people from one of those countries showed up, but this still just blows my mind. I know, I am a stat monkey. I love the stats page. I love watching my numbers climb. Once again, in my defense, I am still after the big numbers because I learned in my ‘The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Getting Published’ book that my wife bought me that a successful blog can help a big publisher notice you, and I am still hoping to move beyond self publishing my books some day to reach a bigger market.
But the stats page has become more than that. Yes, it boosts my ego to think that there are thousands of people out there that read my words and look at my funny pictures and enjoy them. But for some reason, the fact that I am seen all over the world just thrills me.
I go and look at the map now and then. I like to think I am playing a game of Risk, and the goal is to conquer the entire world. I have hits from places I didn’t know about. People all over the world know that I exist. They have looked into a little bit of my life.
I know I tease WordPress a lot, and threaten more revolutions when they make those changes we all hate and never asked for. But the truth is, I love this freekin’ crazy blog thing of mine.

Nope… sorry… I had to look it up, but I have had 1,709 views from India since I started this blog. Not sure how many people it took to get those, but India is number 5 on the list of how many views I got all time. And I have a friend who follows me who lives in Karelia. I don’t get a lot of visitors on my blog, that’s ok because I mostly write it for myself. I check my stats every couple of weeks or so. I get some strange visits, people from countries like Oman and Estonia… I have no idea how they came across my blog, I don’t think they don’t follow me.
I did a post not too long ago where I copied all the countries and flags from the stats page into the post. I have most of the world except fro Greenland, Iceland, parts of central West Africa and a few of the old Soviet Block countries.
What about Antartica? I guess it’s not really a country…
Not sure how that works… but check out my new post… brought about because of this post… I have achieved new levels of shamelessness… oh yeah…
