Willie loved the tram ride, and he loved seeing the animals. We got to see a baby giraffe that was only one-day-old!
We watched the baby giraffe stand up on his long, wobbly legs as we passed by.
That was really awesome. Willie kept looking back for as long as he could see the little giraffe.
We saw lots of other animals that day…
It really did feel like a safari.
So I was telling you about Willie in the earlier post. Most of you already know this stuff, but if you are new, all you need to know is that Willie and his parents live up in the Bay Area in San Francisco. We try to see them every time we go up to see my mom. If you want to see more pictures of Willie… especially funny Photoshop pictures… try searching ‘Willie’ in the search bar, or you can go to my sidebar and scroll down to the word cloud. Willie has a whole section in the cloud dedicated to him. Because, if you have been here for a while, you have watched Willie grow up from a tiny baby to a getting-close-to-2-year-old. And we have had some great adventures with my little buddy.
And you know I like to share this stuff with you.
Because look at that face… the intense fascination with life… that is the magic that children share with us if we are wise enough to join in.
I love that picture right up there. In the first place, the giraffe in the back looks like it is trying to hide behind a tree and failing miserably. And I love the mommy and her baby, sharing a snack from the top of that hollowed-out stump. But mostly I love it because it leads to this next picture…
It is like the little giraffe turned around just to stick his tongue out at me. Hey, I hate it when people take my picture when I am eating too.
After the tram ride, we made Willie walk some more… so we could have more adventures… that I will share with you later…

Plus making a 2 year old walk more, tires them out so they will actually go to sleep at night when adults want some time to themselves!
Willie is very good at nap time.
Great pics, Art. There is nothing quite as wonderful as the zoo with a good friend, is there?
no there is not.
They’ll stick their neck out for anyone
HA!
Giraffes are my favourite. I’m glad Willie likes them too.
How can anybody not like a giraffe?
I’m sure that giraffe (are you sure that’s not a camel with a long neck?) is not the first one to stick out his tongue at you Art. Those are amazing photos – love the little one-day old giraffe. I gotta tell you, you have a lot of luck seeing the animals. Anytime I’ve visited a zoo, many animals have been resting in shelters or behind rocks and not visible. That is an amazing experience for Willie. I bet he enjoyed the day immensely.
Animals seem to gravitate towards me. And yes, he had a lot of fun. He was passed out by the time we left.
