Another of my very first posts…

Here is another of the early posts I did, when I was still stumbling around, trying to find my way. Because recycling is good for the planet…

It was called: Teenage Wasteland

——————————————

Puberty can be a trying time.I am not saying it was any worse for me, but I had a hard time figuring out my place in this world. OK, I still do…whatever…

My art-sidedness of the brain struck me like a runaway truck even as I was getting slammed by the expected avalanche of hormones and testosterone. My feet were size 15 when I was about 12 years old. My body didn’t catch up for a few years. When I stood sideways I looked like a capital ‘L’.

How can you go from this…      To this…in the course of just a few years???

My one-sided brain function was both a blessing and a curse. I flunked basic English so they put me in the advanced English class because that freed up a seat for some normal kid. But advanced English was all about creative writing, so I got ‘As’. The Guidance Councillor complained that I was screwing up his system and offending his sense of order…sorry…

On the other hand, when my friends and I hung out in this cave in the cemetery near my house, I could entertain them for hours on end with stories that I just made up as I went along.

Yes, I was distracted by girls. I can also honestly, proudly and humbly say that I managed to distract more than my fair share of girls from whatever else they may have spent time doing, so there is that. But my art, as it radiated outwards, began to rule my life with its manic waves of possibilities. I had a saying in those days, when people would ask what I planned to do with my art. I would blithely reply, “Birds don’t sing because people like to listen to them.” A clever enough answer, but not one to use as your motto for a successful career as an artist.

Of course artists want people to experience their work. Michelangelo didn’t do the Sistine Chapel and then tell the Pope to lock the doors and board up the windows to keep the paint from fading. Not that I am comparing myself to Michelangelo, but I do want someone to see the pretty colors before they fade. Is that so much to ask? And you won’t get a crick in your neck looking at my stuff…(if you do, check to see if your monitor angle can be altered)…

What do I hope to gain by putting you through all this, you might well be asking? According to the ‘Idiot’s Guide to Getting Published’, having a blog with a few thousand hits makes you a much better risk for publishing. Because it means that some people may or may not like your work, but you managed to suck them in however briefly. So please, hang around to see what happens. Or better yet, check in to this blog three or four times a day, just to see if anything happened. You might help me make my dreams come true. Or you could just speculate on what sort of crazy dreams someone like me has…either way…

I am up to 74 hits…(my ‘big boobs’ ploy seems to have been a flop…which is sort of funny, if you think about it)…

So hit me, and help keep the dream alive…

  1. You got me to laugh genuinely.

For doing that, you may go rest in perfect peace, having accomplished what she could only wish.

But, would you really say you are a different being from the thing in the first pix above?

This must have been before I started following you. So this is how you started? Glad I jumped on the bandwagon at some point. Then I can say I knew you when . . .

Recycling is good for the planet. I will never eat fruit again. I will sharpen my teeth and rip a lion to pieces. And I would gladly hit you. It would be my pleasure.
