…I need your help to right a wrong. This is your chance to stand up and be counted. And to show people that they can’t hide behind the anonymity of a blog and pass judgment on other blogs without having to justify their views.
I got a pingback on that last post I did… the one called: ‘Because I care so damn much’, with the pictures of the sunsets. I didn’t even know what a pingback was. I think I have been deleting them in my spam folder. But check out what the pingback led me too…
—————————————–
Not only does this post start out with vulgar language, but also I have no idea what is going on. She refers back to some tweet messages, which I could not find and then proceeded to post some pictures of sunsets. There were no useful tools to help me find more information and the writing was terrible and harshly sarcastic. At least the pictures were nice to look at…sort of.
———————————————
That is cut and pasted right out of a blog called: http://mleete1.wordpress.com/
And guess what this insulting little poke at my post was titled?
‘Sweet and simple blogs are just that.’
But she obviously doesn’t think my post was either sweet or simple.
So here is what I replied to her:
————————————–
Ummm… Where to start? In the first place, I am not a ‘she’. In the second place, I clearly say right in the post that the pictures are just something for people to look at when they have finished reading the post I did just before that, and before I post the next one… because it is a series. So where do you go to find the post to which I referred? My blog might be a good place to start. But no. I assume you just stumbled upon my post on one of the topic pages and decided to read it without going to any trouble to find out what the context was. You took a post that was part of a very large picture and just looked at one small part of it and decided that the whole thing made no sense. The writing is not terrible. It was, I admit, sarcastic. Because that was the tone that was purposely set in order to make a humorous point. And if ‘damn’ is a vulgar word, I can only imagine that you get shocked quite often while cruising the blogs looking for things to take out of context. I don’t know who asked you to set yourself up as the arbiter of good taste in blogging, but at least go to the trouble of learning the whole story before you review it. The best part of this is that if anybody does follow your blog, some of them might stop by my blog to see what upset you, and end up getting sucked into my crazy world. So thank you. Oh, and just so you know, since you claim to be able to spot terrible writing, in the very first line of your own post, the word is ‘to’… it is ‘to’ the point… not ‘too’ the point. Oh, and I love the fact that right after that you actually brag about the idea of not having to read a long, boring book. I think this might just explain the problem you are having. Try reading a book now and then. Don’t take one line out of Shakespeare and say, ‘To be or not to be, that makes no sense, where are the tools to tell me how to figure out what that means?’
————————————————————
Do you think I went too far?
If you don’t, feel free to pop over and give her a piece of your mind. Here is a link to her actual post: http://mleete1.wordpress.com/2013/09/05/sweet-and-simple-blogs-are-just-that/ Let me know if that works. If not, just go to the post below this one and click on the pingback near the top of the page.

I made this comment over there:
Common etiquette dictates that if you don’t like a post, or an entire blog, you don’t inform them of this dislike; you simply skip it and visit one of the 2 million other blogs on WordPress. In fact, based on your tendency to eschew words and just look at the pictures, perhaps a Pinterest account would be more to your liking?
(Also, don’t visit my blog at all, because trust me, you won’t get it.)
It’s not going to show up, though. She has an honest opinion, but no one else is allowed to express theirs on her site. Her About page indicates that she likes wolves, though, so I posted a link there to the Mountain Three Wolf Moon Short Sleeve Tee on Amazon. Hopefully she will accept that as a peace offering, like when you leave beef jerky out for Bigfoot.
I hope I didn’t just crush her spirit. It isn’t like I never found a post that upset me and said something obnoxious about it in the comments.
For me, it’s usually been the person. Then, I took the advice I gave her, and just stopped reading that person’s shit. Ahhh, much better. I was certain I could find something I liked amongst the at the time 900,000 other blogs on WP, and I was right.
I think picking random posts and critiquing them was just the first idea that popped into her head. She just happened to pick one of my less impressive posts. I guess I am lucky that she didn’t stumble across a really weird one.
Well, it was a bad move. First post, pisses people off. Nice.
Not all of us are as smart as you, Ed.
Ha! When I type to you, I say the words in my head with the voice of HAL the computer from 2001 Space Odyssey…
What makes you, or anyone, think I’m smart?
Evidence?
I don’t have any.
No… I mean that I have evidence of how smart you are… by reading your words..
Kind of a low number. Of smarts.
You can’t be not smart, not full of any shit at all and not full of any hot air to speak of and still be a blogger…
Sure you can.
Well maybe YOU can… which proves my point.
That’s how much I love you, Ed…
You are the man Ed… 100% poop and hot air-free…
No, it’s too late to retract it now.
It is hard to win with you Ed.
She wasn’t worth your time Art!
Well maybe she is and I didn’t take the time to find out.
I am just reading some of your replies to comments here, is this a joke? Don’t apologise to this fool that has trashed one of your postings or said person will think it is acceptable, and it is clearly not. I would never apologise, your gut instincts were correct, call it what you will, but an apology is the last thing that I would offer…
I am amazed at some of the responses here…
Andro
I think she is a baby bunny that wandered into the wolf den… I can’t bring myself to torment her further.
There is no need for a second attack, your rebuttal was enough but hopefully a lesson was learned by the ‘Baby Bunny’ as you call her. Otherwise the assaults on other bloggers postings that she finds uninteresting continues, hopefully your reaction will teach her a valuable lesson.
Andro
Ha… that is what I just said to you.
Not far enough is my way of reckoning, I would have shot that blog to pieces but then I doubt if the said person *asshole* would have stayed on my blog long enough to make a jibe at it, most either fall by the wayside straight away or email me of the grossness, whether it be blood and gore or the sight of a bare nipple, my answer to you is forget this cretin and move on. Your audience know you, they like your wit, charm and wicked humour, and for those that don’t, well they are unimportant.
It was right, just and fair to offer your thoughts on the flaming…
Enjoy your Friday and weekend 🙂
Andro
I am learning things about people from their view of this incident…
The thing is, that it is immaterial whether a blogger is new to WordPress or not, rude is rude no matter what my friend.
I have been to the site in question also, it is new but if one allows a blogger to be judgemental without them having first been informed then we are no better than the flamer.
They need to be set right so that innocent bloggers are not upset by their unjust criticisms. That is what I think anyway 🙂
Andro
I think my first comments will put that thought in her mind.
I was going to say, based on the location data it looks like they are a college student and this may be an assignment.
I think I would have just let it go, or blocked/unapproved the pingback (not that it would have stopped them posting the address anyway). That’s me though, I don’t tend to confront others even when I probably should.
I tend to over react and then end up regretting it… sigh…
Wait….you use sarcasm….
HA!!!!!
😉
Some spammers leave messages just like that to draw traffic when they are being paid per click. I ignore and delete them.
I guess I need to click on them to figure out which is which?
Well if it were me I’d be angry/upset.
P.s I was also thinking that was spam
I’ve deleted lots of those.
My ignorance is a shining light of learning in a dark world.
Had a look see…seems the writer is 1) new 2) non English native speaker…perhaps you did over react at tad.
I hate it when I do that… I will try to fix it.
As my momma used to say: shit happens. Glad you’ll try to fix it though.
I am a bully and a cad… and a bounder…
😛
PMAO, I think you might be overreacting a little. This is clearly the writers’ first day on WordPress, because the post that you linked is the only one on the blog. And somehow her post sounds like she was writing a school assignment to read a few blogs and write a critique.
I know… I already went back and tried to make it better. But this might be a good life lesson. Don’t walk up and stick your hand in a dog’s face if you don’t let it smell you first… especially a big dog… I will try to make this right.
Umm, I don’t think I get your dog metaphor – is that blogger the big dog here, or you are? 🙂
I suggest an alternative one “the dogs bark, but the caravan goes on”.
I was the dog… the big dog… she startled me and I bit her… now I feel horrible… but what can I do?
An apology comment, maybe?
I need to do something…
Yikes!! Hope that person never comes across my writing…I’m a hot mess! But keep on with your happy blogging:)
I really need to start taking a deep breath before I go off half cocked… so to speak…
Eh. Is it really worth getting bent about?
I mean, if I had a dollar for every stupid post I put up, I’d post a lot more often and watch the money pile up…
I think I got carried away… you know how I am… I just got told exactly what pingbacks are… and I sort of freaked out because the first one I followed back was not as nice as I was hoping it would be. I sort of apologized. Kind of.
Oh good lord, if she thinks YOU are vulgar, I’d hate to hear how twisty her knickers get over mine.
Well that’s an offer one can’t refuse!
I am not nearly as interesting as PMAO, or as established. 🙂 I just…swear a lot.
I sort of pride myself on running a more or less family friendly show… usually…
Interesting shminteresting! I like swearing; I use it as punctuation when I’m not around the children!
Well I swore in Scottish just the other day…
You did…it was beautiful.
I felt so manly… I wanted to toss a log.
Okay, I am going to bed. I hope I haven’t crushed a fragile spirit today.
Me too…I’m starting to worry about my own comment…sleep well!
sigh
Did you hear back from her?
No… and the comments are still waiting for mediation.
I saw…I can’t even say it was one of my joke blogs….or can I?
Good question…
…the answer is no.
Is it? I have never heard that word before…
It sounds just like know, but means something else.
No way! oh… whoops…
Twisty knickers are the leading cause of mild discomfort.
She might be a newbie finding her way… with a hint of religious zealotry thrown in… I think I might have overreacted… I do that…
I didn’t really take the time to stalk her and find out. It’s just always been a little bit beyond me why some people don’t know how to…well, scroll on. Of course, here I sit discussing someone who can’t scroll on, so I am not sure I’m much better- BUT, in my defense there was a whole lot of coffee involved. And shells and cheese.
I hope you mean the noodley kind of shells…
I’m not eatin’ mah bullits. Price is too dang high on those things these days! LOL
HA!
Your blog was recommended for its intelligent humor in a post by a very well educated and respected copywriter, educator, plus from Washington D. C. Metro area.
That’s why I read here.
Oh… then I feel bad… because you showed up during a skirmish in the word wars, and none of this will make any sense to you at all. Please be patient and we will return to our regularly scheduled commentary of only the highest caliber and most thought provoking depth… ahhh… who am I kidding. This place is a freak show… welcome aboard. Keep your life vest handy…
I’ve read your tweet posts, hilariously sarcastic.
The person that recommended your blog also wrote you are amazing with photoshop. True.
Pingbacks are usually compliments.
You have fans out there … scary?
My minions are not scary… They are the craziest bunch of outside-the-box thinkers ever collected in one place!!!
It’s like a bag of vomit with a hole in the bottom just called you a used diaper sandwich. If you’re going to be openly mean to other people at least be clever and smart about it. Don’t say “This blog is boring” in a very boring way.
The only thing I think you did wrong was you showed you were offended, which you shouldn’t be because you now how much people appreciate your blog. Quick and to the point is usually better in online arguments. Think of it like this moment from the Indiana Jones movie. You’re Indiana.
Awesome. But I am not really that angry. Just trying to teach a little life lesson here.
I believe when we view a post, if we don’t understand it or like, we can either ask questions or simply move on. I don’t feel it’s appropriate to negate anyone…as the saying goes…if you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all. I’m sorry you had this experience. As for the vulgar language, I have seen all sorts of variations in speaking and again, we can just choose to move on. That said, I’ve never been witness to any in your work, so I’ve no idea from where that stems. I did click on the site but wouldn’t choose to follow someone who feels it appropriate to judges others. Keep motoring my friend. Smiles. Belinda PS, I can imagine if anyone visited my site and saw some of the pics I post, they would feel: this girl takes alot of blurry pictures – without knowing my story – they wouldn’t understand it’s with the use of one not so great working hand. We know so little unless we delve into archives.
I don’t think she bothered to come to my actual blog at all. But thanks.
I believe you’re right or she’d have known what you meant. Don’t be disheartened.
It will all work out.
It will my friend. Just keep doing what you do. 🙂
I don’t know how to do anything else… sigh…
What you do is just right, no need for anything else 🙂
well… not always…
that’s a matter of opinion I guess, grin
I don’t really want to set a precedent of letting people have their own opinions here… I mean, where could that lead? Talk about your slippery slope.
Grin, those broad shoulders are getting a work out!
It isn’t easy having opinions for all these people… thank you for noticing.
Someone’s a little pissed…lol
No… just making a point.
pft
what?
She’s nasty, she even has an evil look in her eyes. I didn’t see your comment on her site, I wonder if she took it down?
It is awaiting moderation… ha
ha, i’m guessing it will be awaiting a long time..
One can only imagine…
😀
