It was just an ordinary post… nothing special about it in any way… except that I thought it would be fun to try to beat my old record for the number of comments on a single post. I had two posts that had a little over 1,000 comments each. So I figured, what the heck, what if I try to keep this one going until we beat that number?

And it just snowballed…

And we wondered what the record for the most comments on a post could possibly be…

But when we asked WordPress, they said… none too politely… that this was the one single stat they do not keep a record of… hmmmmmmmm…

So some of my minions who are better at computer stuff than me poked around and the biggest number of comments on a single post that wasn’t owned by a celebrity or company was in the mid 20,000 range… if I recall correctly… the thing is… and this is a sad thing…. I don’t do numbers well… but she got all those comments because she said something really stupid about how women who have babies are throwing their lives away… and almost every one of those comments was people telling her to move to somewhere much hotter… with a view of a burning lake…

But we realized we had to beat her record…

So we changed a simple little blog post into a sort of a chat room… and people came in and did funny stuff… monologues and rants and stand up comedy routines… we had contests… we wrote poems together and it has been a year-long blast.

And we have reunions now and then… where you can show up drunk if you want to… all weekend long… and we are having another reunion this weekend… and you are invited… just pop in whenever you have time…
