Some birds…

I still wonder how they can afford to just use water to make lakes in the middle of the desert, but then again, Las Vegas is full of ponds and fountains and lakes. At least these manmade lakes in Scottsdale attract lots of birds…

I am also not sure how the birds found these lakes in the middle of the desert, but they did.

And they seem to be enjoying themselves.

And maybe they do not need to fly South for the winter… unless they already did…

Or maybe they do not fly North again when winter is over.

However it works, it was a fun place to spend an hour.

And I do like to take pictures of nature and animals.

I think that one is a long-tailed grackle.

I have no idea what kind of bird that one is.

  1. That one shot looks like Canada Geese. Which means they are wintering in your little Shangri-La and should be headed north…I would like to say soon but it isn’t looking so good.

Ya, you have a point, i mean now you must pay for air at the gas-station.

I love that there is a lake in the middle of nowhere like that. It’s actually quite poetically beautiful.

Yay! More, more! The blogging friend’s name was LOLBeeeze (she really likes the I Can Haz Cheeseburger site) and this is how she’d share her photography. She did a drop-off-the-face-of-the-earth not too long after VOX closed three years ago… 😦

Art, you would love our biggest lake in the middle of nowhere in our most barren landscape, called Eyre. It has very little water most of the time and once a decade floods so massive that bird life turns up from nowhere. Water birds, like from the nearest coastline over 700kms away. Amazing stuff! Nice pics btw.
