This is an awesome, delicious recipe that is so easy to make but seems like you spent a lot of time on it. I like to make it and give it to new neighbors. That is how you say ‘welcome to the neighborhood’!
————————–
3 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
12 ounces of beer
Mix it all together
Bake in greased and floured loaf pan at 350 degrees for about 1 hour until loaf sounds hollow when tapped
(I also divide it up and cook it in three small loaf pans so I can hand it out to more friends, but watch the cook time)
You can also add dried herbs to the mix before cooking
Or add some cheddar cheese! Just a handful of grated sharp cheddar pushes this over the edge.

I’m making this and then I’m making it again.
I thought we were still being silly until I saw what post you were commenting on…
I’m going to make this so many times.
You’ll make this for me when I come to America . Yes? Thanks
Yay… where have you been? We need you!
Moving home, I bought a flat and moved to the suburbs, gives me plenty to write about when I get internet. Takes about a month to get a phone line and internet installed here! I have it at work but been too busy here so missing everyone’s posts.
I’ll be back!
Yay… I miss you!!!!!
Awwwe….
come back to me Joan… HA!
😀 Leaving so long between messages is like 84 Charing Cross Road, like an old fashioned love affair through the mail
As our words of endearment pass each other on freighters crossing the bounding sea…
I’m still here so the effect is lost. Ignore this and I’ll reply in a few days
I can’t ignore you…
Sounds yummy — how about a photo. I’d love to see the finished product. Great recipe!
I haven’t done it in a while.
YUMMY!!
for your Tummy
Yum!
yeah yum
In not talking about real issues on your blog, you have produced a lot of art that is real enough. Derivative, but real enough.
I still want jelly in the mountain of donuts and a zombie hand coming out of the grave pic still, though.
I forgot about the grave hand…
I’m feeling a little hung over from all the weekend’s disco ball action. Beer bread sounds like just the ticket!
It might cure a hangover…
This title made me laugh and I haven’t even gotten to the beer yet!! Still partying?
we are trying to
Would this work with Guiness? I think you should try it. Then when you get into the Guiness Book Of Records for all the comments on the “comment” post you can hand out little loaves of Guiness Book of Records Bread.
That is thinking outside the box!
Forgive the pun, but this sounds like a piece of cake.
ooohhh… beer cake… is that a thing???
It should be. But even if not. Beer? Baking? I can’t see anything to dislike here
It was a fairly uncontroversial post
Sweet…
indeed
That sounds delicious. I’ll try that!
let me know if you like it
Will do! 🙂
thanks
Sounds good and easy.
It is and it is
It does sound good, and I have a relatively new neighbor. However my part time job is in a grocery store bakery. I tend to not want to bake so much at home. Not that I really bake at work, I mostly put cakes together these days..
It is so easy it is not really like cooking at all.
That sounds wonderful.
It is awesome
