On our trip to Arizona, we went from saguaro covered desert to snow-covered mountains. As we drove out of Sedona, we decided to take the back way. I am so glad we did. We crossed over this really pretty bridge…
Ha… look at that railing. It is all bent and there are places where the edge of that cliff over a really deep gorge has eroded away until the railing is sticking out into thin air. But due to those storms that were just finishing up when we got to Arizona, there was a lot of water in the river below.
I risked getting hit by cars to take that picture of the gorge from the edge of the bridge… because that is how much I care…
We drove up some crazy switchback roads and ended up in the pine forests on the top of these huge bluffs. This picture doesn’t convey how big the mountains are or how high we were.
And there was snow on the ground. After all that desert this was rather unexpected.
Mollie made a little snowman with a couple of adorable little kids she met at the view spot.
I took that picture out of a moving car through the window, and I wish I could have gotten a good shot of the one big mountain that was just powdered with snow, but I think this one sort of captures the beauty.
Okay, we have one more set of pictures of our trip to look at later today, and then we will get to the pictures of my pal Willie and his first day of walking. See you later.

I see a little man down in that gorge-ous gorge that you cared to share!
That is the bridge troll…
haha!
I just posted the last pictures of me… uh… the trip…
Oh I like coming over to see pictures of you.. er.. your trip!
And I did a magic trick…
Where?
I removed those people from the background of that picture.
Oh – you mean, the disappearing people trick? 🙂
That’s the one. I did some sunset pictures from my mom’s deck in the Bay Area once and removed all the phone wires.
Makes it look much better, au naturel. Oh the power of removing phone wires with the tap of key!
It takes a lot of key taps and stuff…
Clever you.
Took me a long time to figure out the tricks.
I am only just starting, actually I get put off. We have GIMP here, which does the same job as Photoshop. My daughter has cottoned to it real quick. I get frustrated with it.
You just have to play around.
Mpffff! I try I really do, I am just not very good at it. I have a good relationship with Inkscape, which does shapes and lines instead of those fuzzy pixels. I guess it’s a bit more like a CAD program.
You can do art pixel by pixel in Photoshop… that is a lot of work.
Yes. Perhaps I need to think of it as a lot of work, and then it wouldn’t be so frustrating.
uh… yeah…
Have you regained your energy after the trip away?
Yup
Oh good.
indeed
