umm… stuff?

I apologize, but this is another of my early posts. I am really busy right now doing something super cool that I can’t tell you about quite yet… but there will be pictures… and then some more cool stuff is happening… and there will be pictures of that too, because I think little Willie is coming to town and I am going to read him my monkey book… and I don’t think I am going to finish the murder mystery book by the end of the month, but it will get done, and I have this other cool thing I wrote with my daughter’s boyfriend to share with you, so things are going to get crazy up in here.

And now, another old post:

——————————————————-

This will be a slow week. Not for me, but rather for you. The reason for this is that I borrowed an old floppy disk reader from a relative… (thanks, Bob)… and now I have two big zip lock bags of old disks which are full of old files, to go through and sort and rename and figure out how to use. These disks are interesting not only for how they have already been replaced by newer technology, but also because they so graphically demonstrate my progress as an artist when it comes to computers. There are file types in there that no one uses anymore. The school projects from Grossmont community college, back in those heady days when I thought that I could actually learn how to use a computer to do art in a school setting, are sadly amusing in their lameness.

We can get into all that later. But for now, I have three last pictures from my Photoshop files that I want to clear out, before I finish adding three million new ones. They do not really tie in to the story, or go together, but it will bug me until I use them, so here we go…

This was taken near Christmas when I was, I would guess, 14 or 15 years old. That is me on the right, just starting to grow my trademark mustache, which I have mostly had ever since. The only reason I shared this picture is because of the way my mom is looking at me. She seems to think that I might leap up and set fire to the Christmas tree or something. (I look like I might be thinking about getting into some kind of mischief later, now that I look more closely)… This was when I had finally grown into my feet, and was taller than any of my brothers, so no more hand me down clothes! That is Aunt Nora from England on the left… I miss her, she was awesome. She was in the London underground stations during the Blitz when Germany bombed London every day and night for years. Also she was a Missionary in Africa between world wars… They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

That is my friend, John, the one who died… I didn’t know he was going to die when I did this picture, it is just a Grateful Dead thing.

This was taken when I was 17. That is my friend, Brian… (He is not flipping me off, but rather the world in general, just to set the record straight)… We were both in the Navy at this time, stationed in San Diego. We met in junior high school, and both later got into enough trouble that joining the Navy seemed like a good idea. We are wearing Alice Cooper makeup, even though we were on our way to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Ocean Beach… Don’t ask, we were just rebelling against everything we could think of…

Thank you for letting me share these bits of nostalgia while clearing the decks for the next battle…

  1. The family picture reminded me of the Weasleys. From Harry Potter. You may not have read the book. It was after your time.
