This whole Bay Area trip is coming back to bite me right in the hootchies… and not in a bad way. In an awesome way. Because now I get to go see Les Claypool from Primus, the guy who wrote the theme song for the South Park show, playing an acoustic set at a bar called the Belly Up just North of San Diego this Friday night. And it is for free.
How did I score these sold out tickets you ask? Because my friend Bryan Kehoe is playing with Les. And Bryan was at my mom’s 90th birthday party. Here is a picture of him and his adorable daughter…
You can see my paper and twine flower vines to the right. Bryan is an old friend of the family. I went to high school with him. He plays with a bunch of bands in the Bay Area, most notably Kehoe Nation…. Google it…
And as you may recall from my post called ‘straight up name-dropping’, I know Les Claypool as well. I used to do stage bouncing and security for a band he was in way back in the day. So I got four free tickets, and I will get to slam some beers with two good friends. How awesome is that?
But as long as I am on the subject of the Bay Area, I want to finish up with the last random pictures from our trip…
There are some flowers in my mom’s yard.
And I saw those same two young deer that I took pictures of on the last trip to my mom’s house.
Driving back from seeing Willie, I took a picture out of the window on the Richmond bridge. That is San Quentin State penitentiary. Whenever I see that place it is hard not to think of all the people inside leading such horrible lives year after year, or sitting on death row. Not that most of them don’t deserve it, but it is something to think about.
You knew I would stick at least one sunset picture taken from my mom’s deck in here, didn’t you?
So if you remember the pictures of fireworks from the party, you will also remember that it is my brother Sid who always has a supply of them hidden away. Any event is made more special by fireworks. So he even lit some off when we were getting ready to climb in the car for our ten-hour drive back to San Diego. Even though it was like seven-thirty in the morning. We even got the salute. Hey, we are a weird bunch. What can I tell you?
And then we drove through the fog up in the hills, taking the back roads through Tilden Park. Fog is like the Bay Area’s way of saying goodbye.
Okay, that is it. I can now get back to my normal weird stuff… and trust me… there is weird stuff coming. And don’t be surprised if I do a few posts with pictures from the concert soon.

The little girl is adorable. She looks very pretty in her yellow party dress.
She is a kick.
Now Art will want a little yellow party dress.
It will cover his belly button.
ha
And hopefully a lot more, or a lot more of less. Ha
Ha♪
oh lord
You’re funny.
Which one of us?
good lord, you!
Well played that one.
Thank you.
Such a big baby.
Waaaahhhh
Oh… I thought he meant me…
Always all about you. Sigh
That can’t really surprise you at this point.
No, more a feeling of resigned frustration and diappointment. But, I am getting used to it. Kind of like my feelings about the US Congress.
That was a cruel comparison… but I take your point. Only I get way more done.
Although there are times when this site looks like a tag team filibuster.
Will my esteemed colleague please be quiet, I am still talking.
The gentleman from Jefferson yields the floor. (Actually I took a nap. Three and one-half hours sleep between concerts is so not enough. Back in at 10P for another probably 4 hour load out.)
awwwww…
ha
Well, he is kind of funny too.
You have him on the ropes. Now he’s patronizing me. No more time tonight. Bye
cya
The funny one! Of course.
Of course.

just for my upcoming Putin photo shoot.
Nice pics! Someone must be feeding the deer for them to stick around.
The people around there hate them. They eat all the flowers and plants.
The deer recognised you!
Deer 1: hey, it’s that guy again.
Deer 2: Yeah…why’s he keep staring at us?
Me: Get of my lawn!!!
Haha!
I think you should wear your sock monkey pj’s to the concert.
Is that a dare???
Triple dog dare.
sigh
Can’t get out of it now. Just be sure to post pics.
Right.
These are not the deer you’re looking for.
I think they were looking for me.

Hey, have you ever been on to the Monterey Bay aquarium? I highly recommend it, the jellyfish in particular are awesome. I was at the Monaco aquarium recently and it doesn’t even come close IMHO.

Also, if you have a chance to visit the 17 mile drive south of SF it’s beautiful, I especially love the Lone Cypress:
I also love Carmel by the sea, my sister and I went just because Clint Eastwood was supposed to be mayor but we didn’t see him… 😉 Still very beautiful though…
I love the jellyfish at Monterey aquarium. And we did take that drive once. I have traveled the coast of California hundreds of times.
Isn’t it interesting how the north bound PCH drive is a thing of beauty as you gracefully twist and turn your way along the coast. Coming back south bound all the twist and turns are somewhat less relaxing with the ocean just a wheel jerk away facing an oncoming Trailways bus.
A lot of highway one… the coast road… is like that. Especially when you get way up on those cliffs.
If you’re riding passenger southbound instead of driving, you really should just go ahead a catheterize yourself in advance to avoid an inevitable embarrassment.
I drove the cliffs North of the Bay Area the first time I took our little pop up trailer anywhere. Scared the crap out of me all right.
