The Chase…

Run after me don’t let me go

With each step…I run faster

Farther away from home

No turning back once I’m gone

I will chase you till our breath runs short

With each step… gaining ground

Until we are running side by side

And home is wherever we are

My past speaks with a double tongue

Often dripping sweet, with acidity

It’s hard to trust, but you sit here

Baby, baby it’s true love I speak

It is the chase that stirs my heart

And the running side by side

Falling into familiar paces

Is a life I do not know

So how do you even know, my love

If you can stand alone with me

If chasing is all you know, my love

We would all too soon grow weary

It is time for the chase to end

For us to lay down in the sweet grass

To watch the sky reflect in our eyes

To melt into each other eternally

Thank you for not giving up

For not letting me go, for finding my hand

Thank you for catching me, for holding me

As we sit quietly catching our breath

Oh my, that was a little steamy…

Okay, this is a little weird, but I actually wrote that poem/song with my friend http://hastywords.wordpress.com/ You should definitely head over there and check her out, because she does a lot of writing with a lot of creative people, and she can make words dance.

She did the first part and then challenged me to come up with the next verse. Then we took turns. I think it came out rather well.

Now I must admit that it did feel a little strange to write this with her. But I was thinking about my wife while I came up with the words, and the emotions that came out are all for her. So I dedicate this song/poem to my wife, who has put up with my novel-writing and blogging for three years now without kicking me out of the house.

It’s nice you can still feel this romantic about your wife! Happy Easter Art!

It hardly matters whence came your inspiration — you have collaborated to produce a poignant, powerful pice of verse. I love it!

You are a very funny guy. The comments between the verses made me laugh so much. I bet you crack your wife up all the time!

  5. You’re firing on all cylinders this week, sir. You have MADE IT.

    • I got paid for some art I did once. As soon as I sell one copy of the book, and the band gets one gig at a cheap bar, I can say I am a professional artist, writer and musician. The holy trifecta.

    Collaboration- nice.

    • Why are you talking like Tarzan all of a sudden? Ha!!!

Offering support and positive input w/limited time at my disposal. At least I’m not too busy. Simmer down. Did you go live last night?

        • I just did… and can I just say… ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…cough…splutter…hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, breathe… hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…

  7. “The long suffering wives/husbands of bloggers and their stories” – now that would make an entertaining post! I read you were going to do this with Hastywords the other day and I’m extremely pleased with the results – very heartfelt, passionate and you probably felt great when all of the pieces fell into place after you wrote it. The flow between you both here is very natural and soothing, it gels well together and I think the title really compliments the words extremely well. Also, now you can say “I wrote this for you my darling wife, isn’t it lovely? That means that I should be good for blogging and novel writing for another oh say, three years? You’re special, you know that?” Plus if you make it into a song, you get to say “I made you this too!” It will go well with your existing songs, that’s for sure.

She’s a good woman, no doubt. I like this song/poem/collaborative effort, very well done and highly romantic. Much appreciated.
