Oh, I got your romantic Monday post, Mr. Hotspur!!!

Once again I find myself blindly following the lead of Mr. Ed Hotspur and doing a post for his romantic Monday series.

This post is simplicity itself.

Romance is when your wife says you can get a good guitar for Christmas, even though she sort of thinks being in a band at my age is a waste of time…

a2One of my options is to purchase this used but really really nice Ovation with a built-in pickup and awesome sound. Or I can buy a new guitar if I want to. But since I never really bought myself a nice guitar, I am at a loss as to what to do. This guitar, which I am now borrowing to try it out, is awesome. It is broken in and seasoned. And who knows what I would get if I tried a new one. So I am open to suggestions.

But another very nice outcome of romance… on any day of the week… is when it ends up giving you a child as thoughtful as my oldest daughter Jessica… Mollie is also sweet and thoughtful, just so you don’t think I am playing favorites here… But Jessica, who is now helping me edit my sci-fi novel for a modest fee… I said she was thoughtful, I didn’t say she was stupid… found a place where she could send my book and have it printed up in a nice, large, soft-bound edition. This was my Christmas girt from her. And her boyfriend Jason designed the cover art. And it has my illustrations and the character and species notes and everything…

And Jessica has decided to bow to public opinion and let me keep the name of the main character as Arthur instead of changing it to Rufus. So I am a happy camper all the way around.

Look for the first part of the novel to be available online in the coming weeks. And I guess you can even get the whole thing in actual book form if you want. For a modest fee. Hey, I also am thoughtful but not stupid.

What a lovely Romantic Monday post! You have a lovely family. Choose the Ovation — for all the reasons you listed.

In the case of cellos and violins, more often times than not, the older the better…the sound is more awesome, the workmanship is better, the quality of wood superb…I can not believe that it is not the same case with guitars. You might, since you have been given the opportunity, however, take the time to avail yourself of the chance to at least go LOOKING at the new ones before you do decide. It could happen that you might find something you liked better. But if I were a betting person, I would seriously doubt it. Still, it could happen.

And your book looks beautiful. Just how modest is this modest fee for an actual physical book going to be? Shipping included? And will that fee include a genuine author/arthur autograph?

    • I am trying out guitars. The book costs only about 8 dollars to print, so with shipping and and an autograph, I should be able to sell them for a million dollars each. Or like twelve. But the whole thing is a little ways off. I am doing the book on line as four parts.

Well yes, but there is just something so tactilely pleasing about an honest to goodness bound book…

A mere million? Piffle. Pft. You should have no problem selling a gazillion. LOL. But I’m guessing twelve may be a bit short, postage wise…you may want to push it nearer to twenty. Well, keep us posted on the progress then.

coming weeks!?!? that’s fantastic! well done, i want the book though, and i can wait if need be

and i’d go for the guitar that feels right, if you were using a borrowed one that didn’t feel right i’d say buy the new one….and i am an expert on these things as you well know
