We also had turkey for Christmas…

a3Ha… see what I did there? That was a joke… sort of. My brother Henry, the one who is in the band with me, and I took a walk and we saw some of the wild turkeys that seem to be taking over the Bay Area. They aren’t afraid of people, so I got really close and took some pictures.

a2The area around my mom’s house is close enough to open areas to attract a lot of wildlife. The cemetery I told you about is full of animals. On our street you can see turkeys, deer, raccoons, skunks, possums and some other creatures just wandering about. And yet you can still see San Francisco in the distance. How cool is that?

a1In fact we saw a lot of deer there this trip, but I never got the camera out in time to take a good picture. I also had another run in with a raccoon. I was on the deck having a smoke right before the sun came up. I heard something crunching away on the cat food left out in a bowl for the semi-wild cat my mom adopted. I stuck my head around the corner and was face to face with a rather large raccoon. I don’t know which of us was more startled, but I know I retreated faster than he did.

  1. We have chickens that wander around downtown Jacksonville. Even they know we’ll never quite be a top tier city, it seems.
