You know what I am proud of?

I am proud of the fact that I have never started off a post with any variant of the words;

I don’t really have much to say…

Whenever I am scrolling down the WordPress blog rolls of  ‘humor, ‘writing’, or ‘art’, as I tend to do, just looking for something interesting, I always stumble on posts which begin with the author telling us that they have nothing interesting or important to say. I find this honesty touching.

Often these posts end up being charming, funny, or thought-provoking, despite beginning with what would seem a warning to the contrary.

When you first begin a blog here on WordPress, there is a little instructional paragraph. In it, they caution new bloggers to be sure that they are going to be able generate enough content. In other words; If you don’t have very much to say, maybe you don’t really need a blog. Maybe Twitter is more your style.

Or maybe I am looking at this the wrong way. It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened. Maybe some people start off by saying that they have nothing to say as a challenge to themselves. Maybe this is how some of you get those creative juices flowing.

As I read back over this post, just checking for poorly constructed sentences, it occurs to me that perhaps I didn’t really have that much to say in this particular case. Which strikes me as a rather amusing irony.

So, never mind. Just forget I didn’t say anything.

    We all make mistakes. Look at me, not telling you to go away right now. That was my mistake. Now I feel guilty if I tell you to scram.

  2. I usually have a topic in mind but quite often it morphs into something else..what I love about bloging is that are no rules..well not for me anyway:)

    where was my instructional paragraph……i get off on being spoken down to…..it’s amazing what some people will read though, and ‘like’; i wrote a hundred word post once that was essentially counting down from one hundred…..shocking

    I don’t think I ever actually have anything to say. I should just give up, right? 😉

    Sometimes the best stuff, at least for me, comes from a place where I think I have nothing special to tell and then my mind wanders to special places 😀

  7. Dear pmao,

    I never know what I’m going to say until I sit down to write a post. Pictures and videos come in handy when I’m stuck and if I’m REALLY blocked and nothing happens at all, I go and make a whole new blog. 🙂

    I think if someone started an entry out with, “Wow, I have a lot to say…,” nobody would read it. Unless, maybe, it was under 500 words and had some fun pictures.

    • That is a really good point. Although I follow at least two guys who do a thousand words at the very least for each post. I can’t believe I have to start thinking about this all over again… sigh.
