I already explained why I am posting pictures of birds in part 1…
So just enjoy a few more of them…
Okay, just so you know…
The turkeys were not in my mom’s backyard, they were on the street out in front.
Okay, back to our regularly scheduled birds.
I actually know the names of all these birds now, thanks to my mom.
That one’s name is Joe. No, not really. I meant I know what kind of birds they are. But his name might be Joe. He looks like a Joe.
And that’s Jay. Ha! See what I did there?
I am back at my mom’s house in the San Francisco Bay Area.
That means that we fill the bird feeder, and I sit in the yard with my camera with the zoom lens, and take pictures of the birds we lure in.
My mom loves birds, and I have come to love them too.
But my mom is 96, and her eyes aren’t what they used to be.
So I crop the photos down to just the birds, and show them to her on the laptop, and she tells me all about them.
Don’t worry, I have lots of Christmas pictures too.
And I am still not done with the New York adventure from last month.
And I am having more adventures as we speak. Well, not right this second, but…
But anyway.
Yeah, birds.
I petted that horse. That was a nice horse.
I could have taken my wife for a carriage ride on the last full day of our 3-and-a-half-day adventure in New York, but we had a few more things to do.
The colors were truly amazing.
I loved Central Park.
I highly recommend it.
Well, that is it for Central Park, except for the pictures on my phone, which I will get to sometime.
We are now on the edge of the park. I did jump ahead to some of these photos, for the bird post a while back.
Like I said, we had some place to be.
We did hang around and listen to these guys for a while.
I wish I had upgraded this blog so I could post videos. so you could hear this band.
They were very active, but the music was awesome.
Okay, two more adventures and we will finish this day up. I am actually sitting in my mom’s house in the Bay Area, after the Christmas bustle, so I have more things to mix in with the end of the New York trip. I will try to make it as confusing as possible for you. Ha!

Well, we are almost done with New York’s Central Park.
And that means we are nearing the climactic ending of the third day of our 3-and-a-half-day adventure in New York.
Which is good, because I leave in a few days for the Bay Area…
And there will be more adventures to post about.
Dang it, this is turning into a travel blog.
I have to do something about that, but I am busy making gifts.

Being all-art-side-of-the-brain makes me busy… and crazy…
But that’s okay.
That is why I have a blog, after all.
I made three new friends at work.
They are still pretty young, venturing out for their first time alone. Usually mom is with them.
They don’t even know enough to stay away from strange-looking humans.
My older daughter, Jessica, the one we just visited in New York, has started doing weekend dog fostering. If that works out, maybe she will see if she can keep a hamster alive… then… grandchildren?
I have to admit, Central Park is amazing, and I have seen a lot of nature in my time.
It isn’t nearly as crowded and full of junkies as I thought it might be.
A bride and her new husband. That is a nice piece of social commentary there. She is rushing on ahead, while he struggles to move all the baggage, and they are moving towards a garbage truck. Hey, simmer down, I didn’t invent social commentary.
You can almost forget you are surrounded by a huge city.

I just realized that I have to start posting photos of my Christmas adventures soon, and we are still doing this New York thing.

My wife and I were there just in time for the Fall colors.
Oh, right, Fall, not Summer. That explains why it wasn’t too crowded. We were also there while they were setting up for the New York Marathon.

The title is a play on the fact that the Natural History Museum in New York City is where they shot a lot of the scenes from the movie Night At The Museum, and the follow up movies. We didn’t spend a day there. Just a few minutes.
Yes, I am still doing posts about our 3-and-a-half-day adventure in New York. Our daughter… the older one… had to work our last day there. We had a lot to see, but she suggested we at least go into the lobby of the museum.
So we did.
Who doesn’t like dinosaurs?
There is a weird statue out front.
I will get to that in a minute.
Because… dinosaurs!
That is the baby, standing by mom’s leg.
Okay, about that statue. Out past it, you can see Central Park, where we are heading next, but what is up with that horse’s tail?
I suppose that is a Native American.
And on the other side is… uh… that guy.
And in between is Teddy Roosevelt, riding a horse, leading the others to… or away… from… something?
