Real life Barbie… part 8…

a 1

Okay… I admit that my idea of coming up with new Barbie dolls that better reflect the modern world, and would be better role models for young girls to play with, has taken some weird turns… even for me and my cranium full of crack squirrels… and I freely admit also that the Hulk isn’t really part of ‘real’ life… but still… I would love to see some kid open her birthday present and pull this doll out… just to see the expression on everybody’s faces.

    Don’t make me angry…you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry….

Hmmm, that complexion would be a bitch to buy make-up for.

    • That is an interesting observation…

I had a professor once who was Pakistani by ancestry (born and raised on PEI) and I was with her one day when she was in Hudson’s Bay looking for make-up to match her skin tones – there was none, and she was just brown, imagine being green. (She was a business prof and wanted to discuss the marketing of a large chain that shall remain nameless and we were passing Hudson’s Bay in the same mall when she took a hard left to the cosmetics counter to see if they had anything to match her skin tones. I got a long lecture on the inadequacies of Canadian cosmetics for people of color.)

  4. That’s really only a little strange – if you think about it, there should be a Mature Figure Barbie because not every female is as thin as Twiggy (remember her?). I know Mattel is coming out with a Curvy Barbie, but she’s still not all that large. Not that we want to promote obesity, but hey, people come in all shapes and sizes.

And now that I’m thinking of it, maybe there should be a Senior Barbie – women do get old eventually, even if they don’t want to.
