But I think cynicism is a very advanced type of humor indeed, and they have certainly perfected that. Because they have a few key points that they are using to win these elections… and they actually might win them…
1. We can end the gridlock in Washington! Uh… wait… is that the gridlock that you initiated as part of your policy back when Obama was elected, when you came right out and said your job was to make sure he didn’t get anything done?
2. We can keep you safe from the terrorists that want to kill you! Really… but I thought the biggest attack on America from terrorists came on 9-11… when you were in charge… our guy killed the guy who planned that.
3. We can keep you safe from Ebola! Well. you say that now… along with some really scary ideas about how to do it… but until you have a chance to prove it, it is all just theory, and it hasn’t stopped you from trying to eliminate health care for poor people.
So if you combine these masterpieces of cynicism with constant comments about how bad the economy is… which they ruined and we aren’t fixing fast enough… and how we need to keep voter fraud from making a mockery of out sacred right to vote by keeping the less well-off voters from being able to do it, even though the number of fraudulent votes cast in this country is virtually zero, but sure, why not demand more ID for casting a vote than you need to buy an assault weapon?… and really, we might as well keep on re-arguing the whole ‘women’s right to choose’ thing while getting rid of abortion clinics all over the country because hey, the right to choose should mean the right to choose just how many assault rifles you want to be able to carry into colleges and bars and restaurants and other public places… and…
Oh, screw it… I don’t have the energy for this. If we wake up with a country run by the people who think that corporations are people but people are just takers and users and losers, then maybe we deserve whatever comes out of all this.

I find it so funny when the GOP refers to how little Obama has done since he took office – when it was them who vowed they would block everything he tried to do. So who really hasn’t done anything in the last 6 years? The guy who tried to make some improvements or the guys who made it their mission to keep him from doing it? And the people who follow the GOP don’t get this? What is wrong with you people?
Half of us are idiots… and the rest aren’t that bright
We legalized marijuana in Oregon, some good news there… for some people anyway.
Well we are all going to need it now more than ever.
hee hee 🙂
yup
Keep the faith, there.
Sort of hard today
“Don’t let the b*stards get you down.
Right… but when it seems like we are bent on taking the whole world down… then…
then…do what you do…make people think and laugh!
I guess I might as well.
Depressing stuff, the root cause of so many social problems is politicians, who hate most of the electorate.
right?
The rise of far right groups here worries me, as to me it is obvious what they are doing, preying on fear to get support and once they get any power they will just support the rich at the expense of the poor.
Luckily in London they get nowhere but the rest of the country fall for it, they think we are plagued by foreigners like a zombie epidemic believing all the scaremongering. I am tired of reading on forums form these idiots thinking they are coming here raping and pillaging.
We’re such a ridiculous species.
I can’t wait till the aliens get here… and exterminate us…
They’ll keep a few of us surely. I don’t mind being a slave to the alien overlords, I’m not precious
I am sucking up to them in my novels.
I see, how devious, they’ll see right through that though. Unless they are like ALF, he was pretty dumb
They have egos just like anybody else.
I’m sorry guys but your Republican party sounds like a bunch of self-absorbed nutters. You can send them up here if you want, we can introduce them to a bevy of very pleasant, highly famished polar bears…
that sounds nice… I cannot abide self-absorbed people… you know… who aren’t me..
Oh boy…
oh yeah
It’s looking like the GOP picked up seats in the House. It’s also looking like they’ll get the Senate. It’ll still be close, though. What amazes me is that every 2 years, both parties cry out that they’ve got a mandate. One small consolation is that the GOP is screaming about how bad the country is, and they still can only barely win elections. They should have gotten more votes than this, and they should have gotten the Senate four years ago.
There is a lot of bouncing back and forth.
What does it say about American voters if Republicans keep the House (which it looks like will be the case) and win the Senate. Americans are gullible and Republicans have better PR.
sigh
I’m watching the returns now. We are both going to be unhappy in the morning.
Well I started off that way… so…
